YMCA of the Rockies operates two family resorts, residential camps for kids, and conference centers located on both sides of Rocky Mountain National Park. We offer flexible work agreements for short-term and seasonal positions. We also offer volunteer opportunities, gap year programs, and year-round careers. Our two centers are located on both the eastern and western slope of the Continental Divide. Estes Park Center lives on the eastern slope and is only an hour from Boulder and 1.5 hours from Denver. Snow Mountain Ranch (Also known as The Ranch) is located on the western side and resides in a more remote area known as the Fraser Valley.

Our centers are located on both sides of the continental divide, with YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park Center being on the eastern slope, and Snow Mountain Ranch being on the western slope.
Estes Park Center has over 860 acres of mountain terrain for outdoor recreation and relaxation, while Snow Mountain Ranch sits on over 5,100 acres. In the winter, Snow Mountain Ranch is home to one of the largest Nordic ski areas in the country - with over 100 km of trails!
Camp Chief Ouray, established in 1908, has grown to be a premiere overnight camping option for youth from all over the United States and the World. CCO is a part of the YMCA of the Rockies, located at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, CO (elevation of 8,750 feet).

Estes Park Center is located 65 miles northwest of Denver and sits at an elevation of 8,010 feet. The Center is just outside the quaint town of Estes Park, where there is fine shopping and entertainment. We are within walking distance to the spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park, so bring your hiking boots and camera!
Snow Mountain Ranch is located approximately 90 miles west of Denver and is located between Winter Park Resort, Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park. While Estes Park Center sits on 800 acres of land, Snow Mountain Ranch sits on over 5,000 acres! Moose are popular visitors throughout the year.
Flying into Denver International Airport (DIA) is the best option for those traveling by air. Direct shuttles to YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park Center are available from the airport. For Snow Mountain Ranch, there are a few options for those without a car. An Amtrak service from Union Station in Denver to Fraser, CO and Granby, CO, is available. There is also the Winter Park Express between January – March, and the Greyhound Bus is available in Winter Park, CO. YMCA staff will pick you up from the Amtrak station, Winter Park Express, and Greyhound Station upon request. Lastly, there is an airport shuttle service between the airport to Snow Mountain Ranch through Home James Shuttle (800)-359-7536.

Activity Facilitators lead the charge on FUN! They guide guests in a variety of activities and sports; they teach archery, outdoor nature activities and science experiments; they staff the mini-golf clubhouses, the roller rinks, and the Program desks. The teams share information about our Programs, our Association, Rocky Mountain National Park, and surrounding areas. Craft Shop Instructors excel at creativity. They teach a variety of crafts to guests and staff, including ceramics, leather crafts, glass fusion, wood burning, tie-dye, jewelry, and more.

Adventure Activity Facilitators and Rocks and Ropes Facilitators are an experienced and trained group of staff who facilitate a high and low ropes course, instruct on a zip line, or teach rock climbing.
Hikemasters (Estes Park Center) are some of the most knowledgeable and experienced hires of the area. They have travelled miles of trails learning the terrain, the flora, the fauna, and the history of the Rocky Mountains to provide our guests with an unforgettable hiking experience.
Lifeguards - what vacation is complete without a pool! Lifeguards are our safeguards. They keep guests and staff safe by monitoring the pool and swimmers at all times, keeping the area safe from slips, trips, and falls, and keeping locker rooms clean and tidy.
Assistant Preschool Teachers (Estes Park Center) are responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, under all weather conditions. Assistant Teachers are responsible for the care of children 1-5 years, with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems.
Staff Activity Facilitators (Estes Park Center) will ensure a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment for all staff. This includes planning, organizing, promoting, and leading events and activities for a diverse group of staff and volunteers. The events and activities will range from cultural events, volunteer opportunities, hikes, intramural sports leagues, etc.
Day Camp Counselors (Estes Park Center - summer only) provide character building and life-enriching experiences for today's youth through traditional camp activities. Serving children ages 5-17, counselors lead games, hikes, exploration and much more. Plus, those looking for a career in education or working with special needs children will find a rewarding and resume-building experience.
Environmental/Outdoor Education Instructors (spring and fall) teach Experiential Science-Based Programs to 5th-12th grade students from around the US. Instructors get the opportunity to build relationships with their group of students over their 3-day program, in which instructors teach four three-hour science classes, two recreational activities, and two evening programs. Come make a difference and teach our youth about how to care for our environment.
Nordic Staff (Snow Mountain Ranch - winter only) LOVE the snow! They rent and sell ski equipment, issue trail passes, ensure a clean and safe Nordic center facility, assist with race days, and answer questions about our award winning 100 kilometers of groomed ski trails. Nordic Groomers keep our ski trails open and in pristine condition. They operate chain saws, snowmobiles and other Nordic grooming equipment.
Bike Technicians (Snow Mountain Ranch - summer only) help service and maintain our rental bike fleet. Technicians must have working knowledge of mountain bike repair and mountain bike experience to help assist our guests.

With over 860 acres at the Estes Park Center and over 5000 acres at Snow Mountain Ranch, along with and hundreds of buildings, the Buildings and Grounds Staff at both centers are responsible for the maintenance, repair and replacement of all cabins, lodges, support facilities, equipment, utilities, landscaping and roads.
The Building Maintenance Department is responsible for the upkeep of all YMCA of the Rockies buildings Staff repair minor problems on grounds in public areas and private cabin and lodge accommodations, including changing light bulbs, installing screens, and unclogging toilets. They climb ladders, scaffolding and work on roofs; shovel snow from walks, porches, stairs and roofs (primarily October to April); operate a variety of hand and power tools; assist year-round employees, learning from them on projects; pick up trash on assigned route and dispose of properly.
The Grounds Maintenance Department cares for the upkeep, beautification and improvement of the YMCA grounds. They operate and maintain underground sprinkler systems, plant and care for flowers, trees, shrubs and grass, and assist in daily trash pick up and removal.

From Family Reunions and Conference Groups, to Faith Based Groups and Government Groups, our Conference Departments at Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch help create unique and memorable events for all participants. Office Staff assist group leaders with coordination of conferences, special events, weddings, family reunions, and banquets. Event Staff provide all the physical pieces needed for the group by setting up event spaces and audio/visual equipment, delivering refreshments and other requested equipment and supplies. Event staff also maintain public restrooms and lobbies. The Wedding Assistant helps couples with pre-wedding planning, manages weddings according to contracts, and attends to post-wedding evaluations.

Spring & Summer 2024 Internship Opportunities
Staff Events Intern (Estes Park, March 18th, 2024 - September 6th, 2024) Our Staff Events Intern will ensure a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment for all YMCA of the Rockies' staff through planning, organizing, promoting, and leading events and activities for a diverse group of staff and volunteers. The events and activities range from International & cultural events, volunteer opportunities, hikes, intramural sports leagues, etc. Our Staff Events Interns will also support in communicating events to our staff through various platforms.
Guest Registration Intern (Estes Park Center, March 11th - September 6th) Our guest registration internship provide those interested in hospitality management a valuable experience as they gain skills in a fast-paced hotel environment. They often provide the first face-to-face impression of YMCA of the Rockies to our guests and ensure they are given accurate and in-depth information about their accommodations and activities.
Activities Facilitator Intern (Estes Park, March 18th, 2024 - September 6th, 2024) Our Activity Facilitator Interns are responsible for leading family-oriented and group programs for members and guests of all ages. This includes sports, archery, outdoor nature activities, mini-golf clubhouse, roller rink, science experiments, climbing wall, games and other family programs. Additionally, Activity Facilitators will assist guests at the program registration desk. This position will also work with the Family Programs Assistant Director to plan events and professional development seminars, as well as assist with training, conduct regular check-ins with activity facilitators and be a resource for other staff in regards to program development and implementation.
Sales & Events Intern (Estes Park Center, April 1st, 2024 - September 27th, 2024) The Sales & Events Intern will gain experience and knowledge in 4 departments including Group Sales, Conference, Conference Setup and Support, and Audio/Visual to ensure all Conference services are delivered in a timely, efficient, professional and ethical manner. The 2 months in in Group Sales, 2 months in Conference, 1 month in Conference Setup and Support, and 1 month in Audio/Visual will give this intern much of the necessary experience to work in the world of events.
Summer 2024 Internship Opportunities
Philanthropy Intern (Snow Mountain Ranch, May 20th, 2024 - August 16th, 2024) The Philanthropy Intern provides support for all areas of the Philanthropy department, including planning and working events, implementing recognition and stewardship efforts, data entry, donor visits, communicating with members and camp families via email and social media. The intern also helps run donor events including open houses, golf outings and cabin donor picnics, and staff giving programs.
Conference Setup & Services Logistics Intern (Snow Mountain Ranch, May 13th, 2024 - September 13th, 2024) The Conference Setup & Services Logistics Internship position is responsible for all conference set-ups (chairs, tables, audio visual equipment, refreshment orders, etc.) and implements all requests from the Center Services Manager, Audio/Video & Quality Control Specialist, and Conference Coordinators for any special or additional requirements needed by the group leaders. The Conference Setup & Services Logistics Internship is responsible for maintaining and facilitating the maintenance of the general cleanliness of all meeting rooms, public spaces, and restrooms including but not limited to the Administration Building, the Guest Services Office, and the Chapel.
Day Camp Business Administration Intern (Estes Park Center, May 13th, 2024 - August 23rd, 2024) The Day Camp Business Administration Intern is responsible for the registration of every child that comes through day camp throughout the summer and will support with billing and finances of the Day Camp program. Ideal candidates will have strong communication and computer skills.
Housekeeping Logistics Intern (Estes Park Center, May 13th, 2024 - August 23rd, 2024) Our housekeeping logistics internship provides experience to those interested in the behind-the-scenes coordination of a large group conference and retreat center. This position will be responsible for timeliness in preparing and updating status of lodge rooms and cabins for guest occupancy and communicate issues promptly with Housekeeping leadership.
Camp Trips Intern (Camp Chief Ouray, May 13th, 2024 - August 10th, 2024) Our trips intern for Camp Chief Ouray will help facilitate a schedule of activities in accordance with the goals and outcomes of the teen wilderness and Leadership Training programs. Depending on the program, the intern will co-lead groups of up to 10 campers through outdoor activities that may include: hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, white-water rafting (outfitted), horse packing (outfitted), rock climbing (outfitted), or surfing. Sessions are either one-week programs designed to expose campers to the possibilities of outdoor recreation, two-week programs designed to provide deeper exploration, or three-week programs designed to increase confidence in backcountry travel and leadership skills.
Camp Programs Intern (Camp Chief Ouray, April 8th, 2024 - September 20th, 2024) Our programs intern for Camp Chief Ouray responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the camp. This may include business/administrative tasks, office tasks such as answering phones or emails, organizing mail, supporting staff and/or campers during programming, facilitating activities, and other daily operations. Ideal candidates will have strong communication, collaboration, customer service, and computer skills.
