We are a small staff, and staff become family to us. We consider it a privilege to work and play in God's country. We work and play together. Are you ready to join the family?

About Our Guest House Cabins
We are currently opening up our summer 2024 job listings. We will start conducting interviews mid-March and hope to conclude interviews by mid-April. Our summer 2024 seasonal contract dates will run through May 7th through September 28th, however there will also be opportunities for a select handful to start a bit earlier and/or possibly stay through October. Please let us know if you have the availability to start/finish outside the contract dates.
Hi there! We are Jen and Steve Moore. We can't even begin to tell you how blessed we feel to have the opportunity to live and work here in God's country. Should you be one of the very small handful of staff to join us this season, you are instantly considered family to us. We believe in a work life balance, so you will have ample opportunity to live and play right out our back door.
The area is known for so many things, it's hard to really start. The short list would have to include the world class hunting and fishing opportunities, the consistent heavy snow totals that make for great snowmobiling and skiing, the abundant wildlife with such a diverse number of animals that could be seen on any given day, the ever growing ATV and ORV trails, the endless number of inland lakes to explore, literally 100+ waterfalls within an hour's drive of our property, or simply the shear vastness of 3.2+ million acres of national forest beckoning for you to find that next hidden gem.
Primarily, the positions we fill each season are within the restaurant, Finn & Feather Northwoods Cuisine. Primary positions we look to fill each season include servers, bartenders, cooks, and support staff. We have a combination of full and part time hours available, depending on who joins us each season. Regardless of the position, special preference is given to those who are willing to cross-train or have experience in multiple faucets, as it is key that incoming staff are able to pitch in to take care of our guests, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone from time to time.
As we are only beginning this next chapter in our lives, we expect positions to evolve, change, and grow to the business needs as we move forward. While most positions are seasonal, we will have plenty of off-season projects to address. For those looking for more full-time, year-round work, we'd love to talk to you about possibly helping out with those projects.
The Employee Experience
Here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (U.P.), we live a full four-season lifestyle, with each season offering a different set of challenges. Our spring season is highlighted by the start of fishing openers. Spring rains combined with the winter's heavy snow lend to a rush of the spring melt leading to incredible waterfall viewing. As spring settles in and the wilderness awakens, foraging season begins and maintains through until we see our next snow. Our summer months primarily sees ATV/ORV riders, lake goers, family vacations, and fisherman. As fall approaches, we transition to those looking to hike the trails and enjoy the awesome fall colors, as well as hunters coming to pursue a variety of wildlife. As the weather gets colder and we transition into late fall-early winter, everyone braces for our busiest season of all... winter! Winter is King in these parts. Located in what is known as "the banana belt" of the Great Lakes Region, we see some of the most consistent snowfall totals year after year, and this delights the masses of snowmobilers that journey north every year to get their adrenalin fix.
As a four-seasons get-a-way, you will meet all types of guests. The crusty fisherman, the tree-huggers, the purist, the hard-core trail riders, and everything in between. No two days are alike, and this leads to our jobs/roles needing to be adaptive to what's next. Those who love a challenge and don't mind a curve ball from time to time, will fit right in.
Living on the property, you will routinely wake up to gentle waves against the shores, the thrill of the loons, the distance howl of a wolf or coyote, or other wildlife simply meandering through the property. Our mornings start off easy going and laid back, but as the day progresses and nature awakens, so does our daily routines.
Ideal Candidate
Experience in the position you apply for, as well as the willingness to cross-train when needed, will be strongly considered. However, your personality and desire to work towards the common goals we set forth for our guests will ultimately win us over. You should generally be a happy person, self-motivated, genuine, reliable, trustworthy, honest, and dependable. You should feel comfortable knowing you'll spend a fair amount of time around those you work with, even off the clock.
