About Major Marine Tours

Major Marine Tours is an Alaskan-owned and operated adventure tourism company that has been sharing the beauty of Alaska with our guests for 30 years. Operationally based in Seward, Alaska, we offer daily boat cruises into Kenai Fjords National Park. Our boats range in length from 58' to 115', carrying 30 to 200 passengers. Our cruises range from 4 hours to 8.5 hours and explore Kenai Fjord's towering glaciers, beautiful scenery, and abundant marine wildlife.

In addition to our marine operations, we operate two harbor area hotels: the Harbor 360 Hotel, and the Seward Gateway Hotel.

Why join our team? In addition to providing world-class customer service to our guests, Major Marine Tours is locally owned and committed to giving our employees the adventure they expect when moving to Seward. We also give back to the community and promote environmental responsibility through philanthropic giving, partnerships with local non-profit organizations, and by performing environmentally-friendly practices on our vessels.

Above anything else, it is our mission to provide the highest quality experience for our guests. As a company, we are committed to the delivery of exceptional customer service and satisfaction. We recognize that our team of employees is our greatest resource for living up to this commitment.

Our 5 Guiding Principles:
1) Safety
2) Quality
3) Teamwork
4) Environmental Responsibility
5) Profitability

The Employee Experience

Alaska offers a truly unique experience that you will not find anywhere else. From the big, beautiful landscapes to the friendly and adventurous people, Alaska is the ideal place to work, live, and explore. Many of our employees take advantage of the countless hiking trails, campgrounds, and other outdoor excursions together during their time in Seward.

After working for a season with Major Marine Tours you will leave Alaska with a love for our great state, and will likely want to come back again. Many of our seasonal employees choose to come back to work with us season after season. At Major Marine Tours, a family-owned company, we recognize that our employees are our greatest asset, and you will be treated as such while working as a part of our team.

During our cruise season, we employ about 75 seasonal team members in Seward.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is someone who is a team player, searching for adventure. Our team members must be passionate, up-beat, customer service oriented, organized, self-motivated, and have good communication skills; remember, we are designing and executing guests' dream vacations. We appreciate those that are committed to preserving the beauty Alaska has to offer, both on the clock and at home.

Room and Board

Major Marine Tours offers optional shared dormitory or apartment-style housing options in Seward. Housing is limited and must be requested at the time of hire in order to be considered. Fees for employee housing start at $15 per night, depending on location, and based on double occupancy. Eligible employees are required to sign a housing agreement, comply with company housing policies, and respect the privacy of others.

We are happy to help those who opt out of employee housing find other options.

Employee Perks

In addition to competitive wages, a seasonal bonus may be issued at the completion of the summer. Seasonal employees hired from out of state will receive a travel allowance and can take advantage of dormitory or apartment-style crew housing with high-speed wireless internet. Employees also receive complimentary trips on any company cruise and great discounts for friends and family. Company BBQs and other special events are also common during the season.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Traveling to Alaska: Employees are responsible for booking their own transportation to/from Anchorage. Eligible employees will receive up to $400 for travel reimbursement at the completion of their employment. Major Marine Tours will coordinate with employees to assist their travel from Anchorage to Seward.

Employee housing is located approximately half a mile from the Seward small boat harbor, and within walking distance to the local grocery store.  Seward is the perfect town to explore by bicycle or foot, however, many employees enjoy having their own vehicle to explore other parts of the state.

For Fun

We encourage every employee to take advantage of the pristine beauty and adventure that Alaska has to offer. With plenty of time throughout the season, employees are encouraged to hike, kayak, camp, bonfire, fish, visit the Alaska Sealife Center, and partake in all summer festivities. Between Seward and Anchorage, the landscape and communities offer countless opportunities for exploration, fun, and recreation. Whatever your interests are, as a tourism employee you will have many chances to participate in activities throughout the summer and to experience the true natural beauty of Alaska.
