About Hidden Valley Camp

Hidden Valley Camp has a long progressive tradition, creating an enlivening community of adults and children and providing distinctive programming in the arts and outdoors. Located in coastal Maine, our co-ed summer sleep away camp features distinctive programs for girls & boys ages 8 to 14.

Working at summer camp is much more than a fun summer job. You will build a wealth of skills that will benefit you in almost any job situation and throughout your life. You'll gain communication and conflict resolution skills while becoming more knowledgeable about working with children and working in a team environment. You'll also learn effective teaching methods that will benefit you when the need arises to instruct anyone, adults and children alike.

The Employee Experience

Make friends, connect with young people in a professional environment with a deep history of progressive summer camping, hone your teaching skills and explore Maine!

Hidden Valley Staff describes the meaningful professional summer experiences they've had during a summer at camp:

"This summer has been fun and deliciously paradoxical. I've been brought back to my own childhood and yet this summer's experiences make me feel older, wiser... better equipped for life."

"I became better at taking charge of solving problems and looking to myself for answers rather than relying on other people"

"I feel like I grew as a teacher and counselor. I think that my skills in counseling grew tremendously as a result of working with young people."

"Your compassion and patience with your employees and campers is something I remember every day."

"I loved working in such a caring, educational, lively environment for both staff and campers."

Getting Here and Getting Around

Hidden Valley Camp is located approximately 85 miles northeast of Portland, Maine. We pick up staff at various travel points in Maine. Once here, plenty of local staff have vehicles and the camp rents vans as well for off days and evenings.

For Fun

Mid-coast Maine offers splendid outdoor opportunities, from Acadia National Park to quiet ponds, short hikes or an off day atop Mt Katahdin, rafting, camping and more. Lovely coastal towns of Belfast and Camden offer galleries, festivals, and food ranging from award-winning eateries to a quick summer lobster roll. Staff often take advantage of our art facilities, spending a quiet evening making pottery of stained glass. Or wander down to our lake and have an evening sauna and swim.
