About Basin Harbor
The Basin Harbor family combines a century old tradition of exceptional hospitality and the natural beauty of Lake Champlain with the talents of our team, to enliven the senses and create memorable experiences. Many of our guests have been visiting us for seasons for the very reason that we help to make memories with exceptional service and this beautiful landscape. Our staff are a big part of our success.

Room and Board
Basin Harbor has housing for a limited number of staff. An employee must live at least 30 miles away from the property or be in a key position to be considered for onsite housing. You also must be at least 18 years of age to live in any housing units. Our rooms range in size from singles to rooms housing four people. Most of the accommodations are dorms, with some cottage-style housing available on the property. Basin Harbor offers male/female rooms as well as coed living arrangements. Motel style housing located about 10 miles from Basin Harbor is also available for staff that have transportation.
We have resident assistants for all our housing units. They are available to address your housing needs and enforce our Basin Harbor Housing Agreement. The resident assistant will also act as a liaison between employees and the Human Resource Department to ensure employee concerns are heard and acted on.
Room and Board is $105.00/week and includes all meals. All staff that fulfills their term of work will be eligible for an end of season bonus of $10.00 for every week they paid housing, contingent on the housing unit being left in satisfactory condition.
Smoking is not allowed in any of the employee housing. Housing is never guaranteed. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.

Enjoy your summer fun at BH! Please be safe and remember that when using recreational facilities, the guests must come first. While off duty, employees may enjoy the following amenities:
Waterfront: Swimming in our beautiful lake is of course a benefit to working at BH. Please restrict your swimming to daylight hours only. Rides on our tour boat, The EScape, are available, however subject to availability. Kayaks and Canoes are available at no charge. Water-skiing is available at scheduled times at a discount. The pool is a restricted area for guests only.
Shopping: Employees receive a 20% discount property-wide with the exception of the Golf Shop. (excludes alcohol)
Lake Champlain Maritime Museum: No charge for admission.
Restaurants: 20% discount on employee meals at any Basin Harbor dining venue
Fitness Center: Our fitness facility, the Treehouse, is available to employees at no cost, subject to availability from noon- 10 pm daily.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Getting to Basin Harbor:
By Plane: BTV, Vermont's largest commercial airport, is just 45 minutes from Basin Harbor. It is served by major and commuter airlines, with connections from most cities in the Northeast.
By Train: Penn Station in New York (NYP) to Vergennes, VT (VRN). The trip will take about 6 1/2 hours. For more information on schedules and fares, visit amtrak.com
By Bus: MegaBus or Greyhound from NYC or Boston to the Burlington Airport stop, Burlington VT Downtown terminal, or Vergennes, VT Park & Ride. The trip takes approximately 8 hours.

For Fun
While staying with us at Basin Harbor, we encourage you to take advantage of the numerous recreational opportunities available. During your time off, you can try your hand at a round of golf, go for hike or bike ride or engage in some of the many lake activities.
The local area has so much to take advantage of. The best breweries, cheese makers and vineyards are within driving distance. The Shelburne Museum is approx. 30 min. north on the way to beautiful Burlington, VT.

- Maintain a neat and professional appearance, wearing the prescribed uniform for that time of the day.
- Pick up & carry a pager and/or radio, always ready to respond to any request.
- Greet all guests as they arrive or leave the front door of the lodge.
- Open doors for all who enter or exit.
- Answer guests questions, particularly with regard to resort locations and services.
- Escort guests to their room/cottage; orient them to its features.
- Assists guests with their luggage.
- Store, deliver, & retrieve guests’ luggage in bell closet.
- Transport guests around the resort.
- Transport guests to town or run errands for guests (per manager approval).
- Ensure the entrance (inside & out) is always clean, neat & tidy; assist with general pick-up & clean up around the Lodge, Lodge Lawn, and deck.
- Perform routine guest service requests as requested by the guests themselves the concierge, or the front desk (verbally or via the pager)- such as delivering ice, amenities, flowers, TV’s.
- Deliver food and/or beverages as requested to guests or guest rooms.
- Assist banquet set up staff, as time allows, particularly in the Main Lodge area, with preparations for or clean up after special events.
- Assist with valet parking when requested on a BEO.
- Turn on lights in the accommodations of guests arriving after dark.
- Other duties as assigned
- Individuals with attention to detail, customer service skills, and strong work ethic are preferred.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one situations in person and over the telephone in English.
- Technical competence in basic computer programs and functions is desired. (ie. Work, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Ability to perform very heavy work (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and use hands, talk and hear. Visual acuity necessary to navigate from point A to point B, to provide assistance to others with a variety of needs or requests, to operate a motorized vehicle safely, and to perform other such tasks requiring distance vision.
- Must be willing and able to pass a background check.
- Washes all wares in dishwashing machine or by hand according to applicable food safety
and other codes and regulations. - Polishes all silverware, platters and chafing dishes.
- Handles all china and glassware carefully to minimize breakage.
- Stores all dishes and other wares in proper areas.
- Cleans dish machine and dish area according to pre-established schedule.
- Maintains inventories of soap, chemicals and paper towels in the kitchen area.
- Washes and polishes all stainless steel in the kitchen including shelves, dish cabinets,
ice machines, coffee area, refrigerators and walk-ins. - Collects trash from kitchen areas; empties garbage cans and washes and re-lines with new bags;
breaks down boxes, crates and removes debris. - Examines garbage for misplaced silverware, dishes, glassware and other reusable items.
- Washes and cleans receiving, trash and other kitchen-related areas.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
- Performs other tasks such as assisting in food preparation, storing foods after delivery and cleaning coolers, freezers and storerooms.
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
- Continuously inspects floors in kitchen areas to assure they remain clean, dry and clear of debris.
- Assists in completing weekly kitchen cleaning and maintenance list.
- Cleans and safely stores all brooms, mops and other cleaning equipment in proper places.
- Uses all chemical cleaning supplies in a safe and careful manner.
- Helps food servers by prioritizing the washing of specified service items.
- Understands and consistently follows proper sanitation practices including those for personal hygiene.
- Communicates clearly and cordially with both front of house and back of house employees.
- Attends departmental staff meetings.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Chef De Cuisine
- Report accidents, illnesses or “near-miss” incidents immediately to supervisor or supervisor on duty
- Knowledgeable of and proactively represent Hermitage Club Standards of Service
- Complete applicable required company, departmental and safety training as assigned by supervisor
- Adherence to the appearance/dress code of the department
- Assist other departments as necessary as defined by reports to supervisor

- At least 1 year experience working in a dishwashing or with a dish machine preferred
- Emptying trash from all function areas.
- Changing linen, and putting it in the correct areas for cleaning by housekeeping.
- Vacuuming all meeting rooms after functions.
- Inspecting Banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness, and any other maintenance needed and reporting to the Manager.
- Cleaning and mopping of the storerooms and meeting rooms.
- Setting up meeting rooms and private function areas with the appropriate equipment and materials, including tables, chairs, glasses, water, pens, writing tablets, and any other items requested.
- Storing equipment and materials neatly in proper areas.
- Icing and watering all meetings at the start and during breaks
- Position requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be detail oriented and have ability to read BEOs and follow instruction.

Bartender

Dining Services Supervisor
The Dining Services Captain confidently supervises and coordinates banquet events and dining service at Basin Harbor, assisting service staff as necessary and implements and ensures Basin Harbor policies and procedures are followed to provide our guest with outstanding culinary experiences at Basin Harbor.
Host/Hostess
Basin Harbor's Hosts and Hostesses greet guests, shows them to their seats, and assists the serving staff and the Dining Room Captain or Manager to provide an enjoyable dining experience. We offer breakfast and dinner service, and host staff may also be asked to assist at events, banquets, and lakeside dining.
Housekeeping
Our public Space Attendants, Housekeepers, Housepersons, and Laundry workers are essential to maintaining the high standards our guests enjoy. Join the team that makes that magic happen!
