Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidates are hardworking and fun-loving! If you have a passion for working with children, consider applying as a counselor. Those who have boat driving skills or are Red Cross certified, consider a role as a lifeguard or water sports instructor. Have experience working in a fast paced kitchen? Room and Board

On-site housing, meals, and use of the resort facilities are all included at no extra charge! About 120 of our 200 staff live on the property for the entire summer. Staff live in cottages or dorms and most will have one or two roommates. The largest staff accommodation houses 12 people and the smallest houses 3 people. All accommodations are within walking distance to work and have shared bathrooms, living areas, and laundry. All come equipped with wifi, heat, AC (for multistory units), beds, dressers, linens, and cleaning supplies.

As mentioned before; all housing, meals, and use of the resort facilities are free! We also offer a $400 bonus at the end of the season.

Getting Here and Getting Around

While there is very limited public transportation in this part of the state, we provide staff shopping trips, outings, and rides throughout the summer. We can also pick up and drop off staff at the Burlington Airport, bus station, or train station (about 35 minutes away). 

Personal vehicles are welcome and we have staff parking next to all the accommodations. Bikes, which we provide, can be used to get around the resort. 

For Fun

We're located about 3 miles south of the Quebec border on one of the largest lakes in the US. As a result, water activities like canoeing, kayaking, fishing, waterskiing/wakeboarding/wakesurfing, paddleboarding, and swimming are popular. You can also enjoy the surrounding dense forest, unspoiled lakeshore, and diverse wildlife.

About 30 minutes inland are the Green Mountains, which are popular destinations for hikers, mountain bikers, climbers, and all types of nature enthusiasts. The college town of Burlington, with its fantastic restaurants, bars, and shops is located just 35 minutes to the south. 

The diverse Canadian city of Montreal lies 45 minutes to the north. Many sporting events, concerts, and festivals take place there throughout the summer months.

    Culinary

    Sous Chef

    $900.00 - $1,400.00 / week
    Highgate Springs

    The Tyler Place Family Resort is seeking a seasonal Sous Chef passionate about great food and experienced in buffet presentation who can further enhance the Tyler Place’s reputation for fresh, simple, delicious, Vermont-inspired meals. The Sous Chef will be responsible for preparation and execution of menus with scratch recipes, food safety, staff supervision, maintaining state health codes and cleanliness, and overseeing a fast paced high volume professional kitchen.

    This position requires at least two years previous kitchen experience. Must be professional, knowledgeable, efficient, positive, and have excellent communication and leadership ability.

    Work with Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager to ensure high standards of food quality, sanitation, all aspects of kitchen safety, and waste control.

    Must be well versed in food allergies and have the ability to incorporate innovative menu options that will meet needs of guest with allergies, food sensitivities and special diet requirements.

    Work dates from early May to mid September. We offer competitive pay and benefits with the opportunity for an end of season bonus. Housing, meals, and use of resort facilities are included.

    Photographer

    $13.70 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    Your primary role will be to photograph all aspects of the guest experience on a daily basis, with the goal of editing, uploading and generating sales of your photos to guests at the end of each week through our photo e-commerce site. You will prioritize kid’s group and family time activities, but may also be required to generate content of resort facilities, staff experience, accommodations, evening adult activities, and various additional marketing content. 

    You will be responsible for creating your own schedule based on weekly activity times. Therefore, candidate will show initiative and have exceptional time management skills, as this position requires you to be available whenever activities are taking place. Ability to take catalogue and edit vast quantities of digital photos with daily turnaround times is crucial to the success of this position.

    Prior photography experience in a professional setting is a must. Strong familiarity with all aspects of DSLR and mirrorless camera bodies, settings, and photography principles. Experience with Adobe Lightroom editing software and principles. Experience with digital photography sales and e-commerce management a plus.

    This position is seasonal from May to September, but we are happy to work with students who need to return to school in August. This job includes a commission structure.

    Culinary

    AM & PM Prep Cook

    $13.00 - $20.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    The Tyler Place Family Resort is seeking reliable AM & PM prep cooks who are responsible for helping the executive chef with all hot food preparations and execution of service at our all-inclusive lakeshore resort in Vermont. 

    The job requires candidates to care for and maintain equipment; assist with inventory (utilization, rotation and items needed); prep food for the following day; and maintain a clean and orderly workspace & kitchen. Helps with supervision of dishwashers and prep cooks.

    Hours are approximately 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM with 1-2 days off per week. This position is seasonal from May to September. The cooks can expect to work 40 hours per week.

    Must have previous experience. Culinary degree or seeking culinary degree preferred, but not necessary.

    Housekeeping

    Janitor

    $14.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    The Janitor responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the public areas and restrooms of the resort in order to provide a clean, presentable and welcoming environment for our guests. Areas of responsibility include the Inn, Fitness Center, Children’s Facilities and Public Restrooms.

    Individuals need to be able to lift and move 50 lbs, be in good physical condition and be able to work from a ladder (cleaning ceilings, windows and light fixtures).  

    A driver’s license is required and you will use a Tyler Place vehicle to get from one area to another and to transport supplies needed for the job.

    Basic duties include thoroughly cleaning all floors, surfaces, furniture and fixtures (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish), cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms, emptying trash, keeping supplies stocked, maintaining equipment and following safety protocols. 

    Applicants should have an eye for detail, be able to work independently and have excellent time management and organization. Must be responsible, adaptable, punctual and have a positive and friendly attitude.

    Culinary

    Garde Manger

    $14.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    The Tyler Place Family Resort is seeking a hands-on Garde Manger who is experienced in the preparation and execution of all cold foods including appetizers, salads, dressings, etc. at our all-inclusive lakeshore resort in Vermont. 

    The job includes executing menus and recipes and incorporating innovative, healthy menu options that also meet the needs of kids and adults with food sensitivities and allergies. The Garde Manger will work with the Executive Chef and Dining Manager on meal planning and presentation. Hours are approximately 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM with 1-2 days off per week. This position is seasonal from May to September, but can be longer. The Garde Manger can expect to work 40 hours per week.

    Waterfront

    Water Sports Instructor

    $13.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    Seeking outgoing, knowledgeable, seaworthy (or lake-worthy) Water Sports Instructors for our all inclusive resort on the shores of northern Lake Champlain in Vermont.

    Job responsibilities include driving and/or instructing lessons for waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and sailing. Lessons are for both children and adults. Additional responsibilities include kayak, canoe, paddle board and fishing boat rentals, driving tubes for our children's program, leading fishing and nature expeditions around the lake, as well as boat and dock maintenance. Must be energetic, organized, and mature. Physical labor is to be expected. Previous motor boat operation experience is not required, but highly valued.

    Water Sports Instructors must have or obtain a Vermont Boaters License or US Coast Guard equivalent (we'll pay for certification if necessary - it's just an online course that can be completed in a day).

    A typical day begins at 8am and ends around 5pm. This position is seasonal from May to September, but we are happy to work with students who need to return to school in August. Water Sports Instructors can expect to work 40 hours and have 1.5 to 2 days off per week.

    Housekeeping

    Housekeeper

    $13.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    Housekeepers are responsible for daily housekeeping of the guest accommodations at our all inclusive resort in Highgate Springs, Vermont. 

    Duties include making beds; cleaning and stocking bathrooms; removing and replacing dirty towels or linens; cleaning and restocking kitchens and washing dishes; dusting, sweeping, mopping; vacuuming; moving furniture; taking out garbage; and washing windows and woodwork. 

    Housekeepers are also responsible for cleaning the public areas of the resort (kid's facilities, lounge, lobby, fitness center, public bathrooms, etc.). Applicants must be able to work every Saturday. Previous experience preferred, but we can train. Applicants must be hardworking, punctual, responsible, trustworthy and have a good eye for the small details. Ability to work on a team and lift at least 50 lbs. We prefer applicants with a driver's license so you can operate a golf cart.

    This position is seasonal from May to September, but we are happy to work with students who need to return to school in August. Housekeepers can expect to work 40 hours and have 1.5 to 2 days off per week.

    Children's Program

    Camp Counselor

    $13.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    Counselor are responsible for the facilitation, organization and participation in a wide range of activities for children ages 2 to 15.  Activities can include swimming, boating (kayaks, canoes, speed boats), hiking, biking, arts and crafts, rock climbing, sports, lawn games, and much more!

    Must love working with kids and be willing to make a positive impact on our world-renowned children's program. Our counselors are energetic, organized, and enthusiastic. This is a great position for anyone who wants to work with children as a career (teachers, guidance counselors, youth workers, etc).

    A typical day for a counselor begins at 8:30am. You meet with your group, have breakfast, and then the rest of the morning is spent engaging in a number of activities throughout the resort. There is a break in the day from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. During this time children are free to run around the resort with their families at their own leisure. Counselors have full, free use of all resort facilities during this time (and all subsequent time off). Camp resumes from 5:30pm to about 8:30pm. At the end of the evening children go back with their parents. Counselors are not required to look after children once camp ends each day and any counselors who live on the property have their own housing separate from the kids.

    This position is seasonal from May to September, but we are happy to work with students who need to return to school in August. Counselors can expect to work 40 hours and have 1.5 to 2 days off per week.

    Pool

    Certified Lifeguard

    $14.00 - $18.00 / hour
    Highgate Springs

    Supervises and observes all swimmers in the pools and at the lake swimming area. Enforces all pool and lake rules. Administers first aid and responds immediately to any emergency situations that occur. 

    Additional responsibilities include keeping the pool area neat and clean (picking up litter, putting away towels, etc.), keeping the bathrooms and changing rooms neat and clean, guarding at special evening events, going over pool rules with children's groups at the beginning of each week, and being friendly, helpful and courteous to guests at all times. 

    CPR, First Aid & Lifesaving certifications are required. This position is seasonal from May to September, but we are happy to work with students who need to return to school in August. Lifeguards can expect to work 40 hours and have 1.5 to 2 days off per week.
