We are a 9 suite bed & breakfast with a 30 seat fine dining restaurant & are a Select Registry property, Trip Advisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award property. 368 Maine won the 2023 & 2024 DiRoNa award and LuxLife Magazine Best Fine Dining Experience in Maine for 2024. The owners have created the ultimate lodging, culinary, and adventure destination location for discerning travelers.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone eager to help our business grow and reach our strategic goals. You will work in partnership with the owners and general manager to continue the exemplary reputation of our lodging, culinary, and adventure destination location. 

As a Select Registry Property, Traveler's Choice Award recipient, and DiRoNa awarded restaurant, candidates who work with us put the guest experience first. 

We are looking for easy-going team players, who love learning new skills and sharing their knowledge with our dedicated and hardworking team. As a small but busy boutique bed & breakfast with full service restaurant, our discerning guests enjoy luxurious accommodations, concierge service, and unparalleled hospitality in both lodging and dining. 

Room and Board

The Lodge at Moosehead Lake offers shared housing for some staff members for a nominal weekly fee ($150 per week) and a one time cleaning fee (non-refundable $150).

One staff house is newly renovated, has a large yard and is close to the town and lake. There are 4 bedrooms, (3 queen bedrooms, 1 bedroom with two twin beds) 1.5 bathrooms, shared common areas: dining room, living room, large sunporch, foyer, and basement. The staff house is located approximately 3.5 miles from the lodge and is a 7 minute drive. 

There are several other staff houses in close proximity to town and our business. You may be sharing a room with a fellow worker based on housing availability and arrival dates. 

WIFI, electricity, and heat included.

  • Washer/dryer (in most residences or laundry mart nearby)

  • Outside space in some staff houses.
  • Parking for 1 car for each staff member only.
  • All kitchen equipment provided.

  • 2 bicycles for use at some staff houses.
  • Smoking and vaping is not allowed in any staff house or on any staff property.

Getting Here and Getting Around

The Lodge at Moosehead Lake is located in a rural area. There is no public transportation or taxi/Uber service. It is recommended that you bring a car, preferably an SUV if you plan to explore hiking trails and backroads. We are 1.5 hours from Bangor International Airport and 3 hours from Portland Airport. 

There is a grocery and clothing store located in town as well as multiple restaurants that serve pub food and fine dining.

The Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a destination location set in one of the most scenic areas of Maine. Outdoor activities are plentiful and include: hiking, fishing, seaplane rides, wildlife tours, swimming, sightseeing, photography, mountain climbing, boat tours, camping, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and hundreds of other activities.

    Executive Chef

    Executive Chef

    We are looking for a creative, collaborative, and detail oriented Executive Chef to join our team. You will be responsible for all aspects of leading the kitchen and building a successful culinary team while working in partnership with the general manager and owners to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests. Must have a passion for food and the guest experience. We are looking for an Executive Chef that will set us apart from our competition with their culinary creativity and commitment to excellence. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan and direct food preparation and culinary events.
    • Prepare multi course meals for a fine dining establishment.
    • Collaborate with General Manager and owners toward mission and vision of lodge & restaurant.
    • Create daily and weekly menus for dinner using fresh ingredients sourced from our garden, area farms, and local vendors. 
    • Manage food costs and train kitchen staff.
    • Address guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
    • Expedite food to dining room.
    • Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations.
    • Ability to order food products and collaborate with local purveyors.
    • Comply with dietary restrictions, state sanitation regulations, and safety standards.
    • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
    • Excellent record of kitchen management and food satisfaction from guests.
    • Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
    • Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating and delivery.
    • Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques.
    • Preparing meals and completing prep as needed with assistance from culinary team.

    Skills:

    • Exquisite plating for fine dining restaurant.
    • Communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to delegate tasks and work under pressure.
    • Creation of new recipes and menus.
    • Strong knowledge of restaurant industry operations, safety, and sanitation standards.
    • Strong communication skills with ability to motivate employees and obtain positive results.
    • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word & Excel).

    Job Type: Full-time Seasonal May-October

    • 5 evenings a week May – October.
    • Wednesdays-Sundays.
    • Breakfast service coverage 1-2 mornings per week for lodging guests.

    Pay:

     $40 K per 6 month season.

    Benefits:

    Experience:

    • 2+ years Fine Dining Executive Chef experience.
    • Degree in Culinary Science or related field.
    • Serve-Safe food manager certification.
