Yep, that’s us! And it started with Deliverance. Southeastern Expeditions opened its doors in 1972, with equipment purchased from Warner Brothers following the filming of the movie Deliverance, with Burt Reynolds and John Voight. The enduring flick made the river famous and put us on the map, bringing the river enough notoriety to be named by congress the first Wild and Scenic River in the south. Our newfound company was the first to bring visitors to the churning white water and steep descents of the Chattooga.

Chattooga River White Water Rafting; there’s nothing like it. Your destination, the river called the Crown Jewel of the Southeast, is undammed and remains the only river East of the Mississippi that hosts commercial rafting while bearing the national designation of a Wild and Scenic River.

Through the Appalachian foothills of the Chattahoochee and Sumter National forests flows the “Wild and Scenic” Chattooga River. Forming about 40 miles of the GA/SC border, the Chattooga was made famous in 1972 with the filming of the movie Deliverance. This film fueled an explosion in whitewater rafting in the south propelling whitewater adventure to the prominence it enjoys today.

Rated one of the 10 best runs in the country, the Chattooga is blessed with stunning scenery and outstanding whitewater. Rafters have a choice of the milder Section III trip or the ultimate Section IV wilderness trip. We invite you to join us for a true wilderness adventure!

Anyone who is accountable, works well with others, and isn't afraid to try something new! If you're willing to learn, we're willing to train. 

On-site housing is provided for raft guides, free of charge, based on availability. Our housing is basic open-air bungalows. You may have a roommate and housing placement is not guaranteed. Please note on your application if you need housing.

We will provide a PFD, helmet, wetsuit, splash jacket, and a paddle during training & Training is ALWAYS FREE!

Due to the rural area bringing a personal vehicle is a must. 

Southeastern Expeditions is located in Clayton GA about 2 hours from Atlanta GA and 45 minutes to Helen GA. 

Northeast Georgia is your outdoor playground. We have rivers for rafting and kayaking. Lakes for any flatwater sports. Mountains for climbing and hiking. Trails for mountain biking. Waterfalls for hiking, swimming, and cliff jumping. We are under 2 hours from Atlanta and about 45 minutes from Helen, GA for any city-time fix you may need.
