    Tour Guide and Customer Service Representative

    $26.00 - $30.00 / hour

    Job Summary: The Skagway Brewing Company (SBC) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and engaging individual who possesses a diverse skill set and exhibits a proactive, collaborative, and energetic nature, along with an outgoing personality. This position spearheads our growing tour program and engages in various aspects of customer service for our business.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Communicates with operations regarding tour numbers, times, and locations.
    Ensures the refill of sufficient beer for samples for the day.
    Ensures that glassware, flight sample paddles, etc., are adequately supplied and ready for daily tour activities.
    Coordinates with the Manager on Duty (MOD) at least one hour prior to gradually clear the area designated for the tour.
    Communicates with the Cruise Ship Shore-excursions teams about daily tour operations and builds relationships through familiarization (fam) trips, etc.
    Sets up beer samples, silverware, water, napkins, etc.
    Greets guests upon arrival.
    Conducts beer talks and coordinates or delivers follow-up Aeroponics talks.
    Ensures the timely departure of the group.
    Cleans up after the tour and stores tour-only equipment in designated areas.
    Returns the area to its normal operational state unless instructed otherwise by the MOD.
    Promotes Tour bookings on social media.
    Communicates latest numbers and updates with 3rd parties, who offer our tours.
    Answers questions received via our website chat, emails, etc.
    Processes online table reservations if assigned.
    Tries to promote and increase ticket sales through various channels, i.e., campgrounds, ferries, etc.
    Additional Duties 
    In addition to the primary responsibilities of this position, the candidate may also be assigned additional duties. These may include but are not limited to, assisting our hosts and/or retail staff during the lunch hour rush by visiting with guests to help keep informed, answer questions, and direct the flow of visitors.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    A minimum of 3 years of tour guiding and/or hospitality industry and knowledge of cruise ship tour operations.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Organized and detail oriented.
    Engaging, enthusiastic and eager to learn.
    Team player.
    Proficiency in Google Docs and Sheets.
    Bonus Desired Qualifications and Skills:

    Experience with digital ad creation.
    Basic knowledge of graphic design, Adobe products, and MS Office.
    Knowledge of event coordination.
    Familiarity with the Skagway community.
    Familiarity with various social media platforms.
    Creativity.

    • The Grill Cook is an important team player, responsible for preparing all menu items in an efficient manner while maintaining quality, cleanliness standards and effective communication. 
    • This is a seasonal position running mid-April through mid-October.

    Responsibilities

    • Prep and maintain a stocked station
    • Prepare each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
    • Memorize and employ our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, fryers, grills, equipment and floors

    Job Summary (Dishwasher/Prep Cook: Full Time, Seasonal)

    • The dishwasher/prep cook is responsible for efficient cleaning and proper sanitation and storage of all restaurant wares, including dining, glass, and kitchenware, utensils and equipment. May assist in supportive tasks such as portion prep, table bussing, janitorial duties if/as needed. 
    • This is a seasonal position running early May - late September.

    Responsibilities 

    • Properly stack, sort and wash all soiled wares by using dishwashing machine or by hand if needed
    • Accurately organize and store all washed items in correct assigned locations
    • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dishwashing machine; refill cleaning agents as needed
    • Manage cleanliness and organization of dish pit, freight and food storage areas, including removal of trash, compost, cardboard, recycling, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty on immediately
    • Perform opening/closing procedures as assigned

    Front of House Manager

    $1,200.00 - $1,350.00 / week

    Job Summary (FOH Shift Manager: Full Time, Seasonal)

    • The Skagway Brewing Company is seeking an experienced, dedicated, perceptive, and enthusiastic Seasonal FOH Manager who will be responsible for assisting with the overall FOH daily operations
    • This is a seasonal position running mid-April through early-October; averaging 50 hours/week
    • Reports to Year-Round FOH Manager

    Responsibilities 

    • Provide necessary training to all staff regarding menu, POS, and SOPs
    • Supervise staff on shift, problem solving, resolve conflicts, providing motivation and feedback to employee and all FOH Managers
    • Preserve customer relations, handling all customer complaints in a constructive/positive manner
    • Maintain knowledge of food/drink recipes and procedures, and gift shop merchandise
    • Maintain knowledge and upkeep of Toast POS, guest management, and R365 inventory and scheduling systems
    • Assist with bar inventory
    • Accountable for maintaining labor efficiency ratios/cost effectiveness
    • Assist with balancing cash tills, server check outs, handling and creating bank deposits and printing necessary POS reports
    • Responsible for physical, aesthetic and safety maintenance, reporting to appropriate person when unable to resolve
    • Assist in planning, executing, managing and promoting all on- and off-site special events
    • Assist with discipline and termination of employees as necessary
    • Adhere to and enforce all state and federal regulations, such as DEC, AMCO and OSHA

    Qualifications

    • 21+ years old
    • 3+ years experience serving/managing in a high-volume, fast-paced establishment preferred
    • Possess strong communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to maintain composure under stress 
    • Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
    • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day & lift large boxes weighing 35+ lbs
    • Have/Obtain State of Alaska approved TAPS and Food Handlers certifications
