Shelter Cove is looking for energetic and team-oriented cooks/cashiers to join our work family!

Highway West Vacations is looking for cooks/cashiers to join our team on the prestigious Odell Lake, famous for it's Kokanee Salmon, gigantic Mackinaw, and being a vital resting stop for the Pacific Crest Trail as they make their way up the coast. A cook will be responsible for executing restaurant food in accordance with provided menus, recipes, and presentation standards. They will assist in guiding and training other restaurant cooks as well as directly support the management and supervisory team.

Daily Operations

• Completes daily food preparation and cleaning checklists in accordance with property standards  
• Assists Supervisor in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model to other cooks and restaurant employees  
• Follows instruction and guidance from chefs, supervisors, and managers at any time  
• Responds positively to constructive feedback and work to improve skills daily   
• Communicates effectively with management, supervisors, and employees when necessary  
• Develops culinary specials to be potentially featured on the restaurant menu   
• Interacts with guests at live cooking stations, acting in accordance with Highway West Vacations service standards   
• Informs F&B service staff of 86'ed items and available menu specials  
• Pulls food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator  
• Regulates temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roaster  
• Prepares special requests or substitutions for guests   
• Communicates assistance needed during busy periods  
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees  
• Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintains confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets  
• Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications  
• Assists in managing culinary food and cleaning supply inventory, utilizing products to minimize waste  
• Informs Chef or Manager of items that need to be used  
• Tracks and reports maintenance issues; follows up to ensure resolution 
• Contributes to regular deep cleaning 
• Perform other duties, including: participate in employee meetings, assist other departments on high turn days, complete projects as assigned.
