A friendly outdoor community applauding kindness, creativity, and self-expression.
Rockbrook is an overnight summer camp for girls located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Established in 1921, it offers a diverse program of horseback riding, outdoor adventure, whitewater rafting, ceramics, crafts, and many other activities. This is a place where girls can relax and be their true selves and make great friendships, all while having a complete blast.
Rockbrook Camp is set among the fantastic beauty of the Carolina Appalachian mountains and enjoys numerous waterfalls and scenic overlooks within its 215-acre wooded location. Near Asheville, we are 4 miles south of the small town Brevard in the western part of North Carolina, an area well known for its national forests, rocky rivers, and mountain lakes.
About Rockbrook Camp for Girls
Our Philosophy
Rockbrook is foremost a supportive community fueled by kindness, respect and care. It is a safe place for girls to explore nature, learn new skills, and feel appreciated and included. It's a haven that values creativity, diversity, and enthusiasm. It's a magical place that inspires silliness and joyful engagement from everyone. Ideal Candidate
Each year we hire a diverse staff who, with their different personalities, backgrounds and talents, can serve as positive role models for our campers, teach the different activities offered at camp, and offer real enthusiasm for camp life. We look for staff members who want to join our camp community, make many new friends, and work hard to benefit the girls who attend camp.
Rockbrook counselors know how to be both responsible and fun. They love the outdoors and get a kick out of spending time with kids. They're generally high energy, quick to laugh, and excited to learn. They know that costumes make any gathering more fun.

Room and Board
All summer staff receive room and board. Cabin counselors typically live in our rustic camper cabins with a co-counselor and eight girls. Activity specialists (e.g., adventure guides and riding instructors) live in staff-only cabins also located on the camp property.
Meals at Rockbrook are served family-style in our dining hall. Cabin groups sit together at tables with their counselors. The food is excellent! It's made-from-scratch and always includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. A highlight is the fresh-baked muffin served as a mid-morning snack during the week. The camp baker also makes all the desserts for dinners.
Employee Perks
The biggest perk Rockbrook employees receive is the great feeling that comes from simply living life at camp. It's rewarding, fun, refreshing, meaningful. It's intense, but also provides plenty of rest and time off to explore the local area. It helps you develop real-world skills that you'll apply throughout the rest of your life. Sure you get paid, your laundry is done for you, and your room and board is also included, but it's the experience that's really valuable.
