About Piney River Ranch

Piney River Ranch is Vail, Colorado’s most breathtaking destination for weddings, retreats, day-trips, and reunions.

Piney River Ranch is not only a picture perfect Colorado wedding and event venue. We have a variety of activities and summer fun for the entire family. From fly-fishing, hiking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, waterfalls or simply relaxing by the fire pit, Piney has something for everyone. We also offer lodging for our overnight guests and an on-site restaurant that boasts the best smoked BBQ around.

The Employee Experience

Working at Piney River Ranch - a privately owned and operated ranch surrounded by the White River National Forest, is one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences you can have. You will have the chance to meet a great group of like minded people and work in one of Colorado's most picturesque locations. The ranch is open to the public daily from 9 am - 6 pm from June 21st through the last weekend in September each year. We offer hiking, water activities, horse back riding, fly fishing and a full service restaurant. We also have lodging for overnight guests as well as multiple events scheduled throughout each week.

Ideally our staff would be available from June 18th/19th through October 1st however these dates are flexible for the right candidates.

We offer hiking, water activities, fly fishing and a full service restaurant. We also have lodging for overnight guests as well as multiple events scheduled throughout each week.

There is always something happening and always something to do. So if you aren't afraid of hard work and want to have an amazing summer then come and work for us.

Ideal Candidate

Piney River Ranch's ideal candidate would be someone who is enthusiastic, energetic and personable. Our business is 100% customer service, 100% of the time. So if you are interested in spending your summer outdoors in one of Vail's most beautiful locations then you will love it at Piney.

We live in close quarters here and there's very little separation between work and home. You finish work, head to employee housing and see your coworkers. For this reason it's very important that staff be flexible, communicative, emotionally mature, community oriented, and able to solve interpersonal problems. It's also important to find ways to take time for yourself and to unplug from  the community and recharge your batteries when you need to.

Room and Board

We offer some limited shared accommodations to our full-time out of town staff. Our accommodations consist of studio style cabins where you will be sharing with 1 or 2 other people.

$400/month deducted from your paycheck. All utilities included.

All employees share a bath house/laundry room located a short walk from your cabins. None of the accommodations have plumbing inside of them.

Some staff opt to rent a place in Vail for the summer and carpool in as the ranch can feel a little isolated and repetitive after a few weeks of no cell or internet. Seasonal housing in Vail is expensive and difficult to find. We are unable to assist in helping you find housing off property.

Employee Perks

All of our employees both part time and full time are entitled to the following:

  • Discounted meals - 50% off
  • Unlimited activities – based on availability
  • 30% off retail

Getting Here and Getting Around

The only way to get to Piney is by car. The closest town is Vail (45 minutes away) and the closest city is Denver (2.5 hours away).

As we are located 12 miles in the wilderness we highly recommend having a car. The road to Piney is a bumpy dirt road so we do recommend a car with somewhat higher clearance. Having said that we have guests travel up and down the road everyday in all sorts of vehicles.

Should you not have a car there are plenty of options of getting rides with coworkers to and from town. Once in town Vail has a comprehensive free bus service so you will have plenty of options to explore the village.

For Fun

There is a mountain of fun activities to do on the ranch as well as in Vail village. Right at your door step is hiking, fishing, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding or just plain relaxing surrounded by nature.

Vail Village has a multitude of summer activities each year - many of them free. They also have many great restaurants and breweries as well as hiking, biking, frisbee golf and so much more.
