Odyssey Lodge is a brand new, semi remote, Eco-friendly lodge in Kachemak Bay, Alaska! We are currently hiring for several positions, including guides, chefs, bartenders housekeeping, and food services. Check out the photos of our employee housing!
Odyssey Lodge is located in China Poot bay, approximately 4.5 miles across the bay from Homer, Alaska. located right outside the park boundary in Kachemak Bay. A 15-20 minute boat ride to the property is required to get here.

Our staff is provided with private conditions because of the nature and location of our business. we realize our staff will be spending most of the season in a remote location and want our team to feel as comfortable as possible. couples or friends may be paired up upon request.

Ideal Candidate
At Odyssey Lodge, we are in search of individuals who possess a variety of skills ranging from customer service, an ability to learn and adapt, as well as being responsible and accountable. Our employees will be living in shared staff housing and must be able to get along with others. If you don't enjoy spending time with others or haven't had roommates this job may challenge you.
Room and Board
Room and board is provided for most positions at Odyssey Lodge. Those who live locally in Homer or nearby will be taxied to and from the property by boat each day. A minimal fee will be charged each month for utilities and housing necessities.
Employee Perks
Do you like fishing, hiking, kayaking, bird watching, socializing with like-minded people? At Odyssey Lodge, the world is your Oyster. If Salmon fishing is on your bucket list, we have you covered with our annual Red run 2 miles just up the bay. We are also located near several hiking trails in the state park giving adventurers the access and opportunity to explore the surrounding areas.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Odyssey Lodge is a semi-remote Facility with Boat-in-only access. For staff living on-site, no vehicle is required or needed as we don't have road access. For anyone wanting to see more of the state on off days, you can park a car at the Homer Harbor. Everything at Odyssey Lodge is within walking distance of housing. No bikes or off-road vehicles are needed on Odyssey grounds. On off days we will provide transportation to and from the lodge if scheduled in advance. Otherwise, water taxis are available and run all summer long.

Our location is approximately 4 miles (by boat) from Homer. The lodge is along a narrow channel leading to China Poot Falls, a site known for salmon congregation. This means that you'll not only have access to stunning views but also opportunities for engaging in outdoor activities.

Massage Therapist/Yoga instructor/Guest Services
This hybrid position caters to guest massage requests, yoga and wellness classes. Also, contributing to housekeeping duties or administrative tasks during off-peak massage and wellness times. It offers a salary, commission-based earnings for massages and includes room and board. A valid Massage Therapy license is required. The role involves flexibility, multitasking and the ability to switch between guest services and alternate responsibilities as needed.
Bartender
The Bartender oversees the bar setup, serves drinks to guests, maintains bar cleanliness, manages liquor inventory and processes guest payments. They ensure prompt service, prepare beverages to high standards and maintain a clean lounge area. Responsibilities include cashiering, adherence to liquor laws, cost management and monitoring guest intoxication. Bartenders also manage inventory levels, stock and clean glassware, maintain soda tanks, prepare garnishes, assist in lounge area cleaning and prioritize guest satisfaction throughout.
Executive Chef
The Executive Chef will oversee diverse tasks to ensure kitchen efficiency and to diners satisfaction. Your duties will involve crafting distinctive an Alaskan themed menu. Important staying updated on industry trends, maintaining kitchen hygiene, managing inventory and purchases. Guide the kitchen staff in meal preparation and introducing innovative culinary methods.
The Executive Chef has a important role and we will depend on that person to wow us and our guests with a culinary exquisite experience.
Guide (Hiking and Kayaking)
We're seeking passionate individuals for a multifaceted role in Alaska with opportunities to specialize as a wilderness guide. A strong work ethic, positive attitude and love for the outdoors are essential. Proficiency in hiking and kayaking is critical while knowledge of local history, wildlife and photography is beneficial. Flexibility is key as the role involves diverse tasks from guiding to assisting in the kitchen, maintenance, guest service and various outdoor activities. Physical fitness, adaptability and a willingness to assist in any lodge duties are necessary. This position serves as an entry point offering the chance to prove oneself for potential advancement to a full-time guide role.
Sous Chef
Sous Chefs play a crucial role in restaurants and hotels by overseeing food preparation and staff. Their daily tasks include preparing meals promptly, enforcing kitchen standards and sanitation. Additional responsibilities are managing inventory quality, ensuring food safety, maintaining a clean workstation and handling opening, closing. Work closely and take on other duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
