About Oakland House Resort LLC

The Oakland House is a resort colony of vintage cottages, a communal guest house, and a 132-year-old inn on 60 acres on Eggemoggin Reach in Maine, overlooking picturesque Pumpkin Island to the right and the iconic Deer Isle Bridge to the left.  We offer a restorative haven for guests in search of breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, hikes to gorgeous overlooks, cozy nights by the fireplace and silence disturbed only by the call of loons in the nighttime.   We’re also ideal for restless nature-lovers who come to paddle, hike, bike, fish, sail and explore Acadia National Park.

The Employee Experience

Friendly staff build their skill sets and make life-long bonds with co-workers. A balance between traditional resort features and modern creativity stimulates a healthy, vibrant community, all just minutes from stunning views, quaint seaside communities, and a plethora of outdoor activities. Expect to get back to nature, make lasting friendships, earn valuable career experience, and—best of all—have lots of fun!

Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate is considering a career in the hospitality industry but does not have to have extensive experience.  A positive attitude and willingness to help where needed are important traits.

Room and Board

Housing is bunk-style living. All meals are included!

Employee Perks

Because we are located in one of the prettiest vacationlands of the country, not far from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, full days off can be a mini-vacation.  The staff enjoys wifi in our staff lounge as well as access to a fitness center. They are offered some transportation to local towns and activities on their days off, so there are many opportunities to explore the exceptional local sites.

Staff will also have access to the incredible diversity of activities offered by our nearby summer camp, which sits on a beautiful lake, including a vibrant waterfront with waterskiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, sailing, kayaking, and canoeing.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Most staffers travel by bus or plane to the city of Bangor, Maine, from where we offer direct van transportation to the resort. Driving to the Oakland House, however, can be the easiest and most enjoyable option. If you have access to a car and are undecided about whether to bring it to camp, our advice is to bring it! There is plenty of parking available, and having a vehicle will provide you with greater freedom during your time off.

For Fun

Downeast Maine offers an abundance of beauty and opportunities to explore in its coastline and inland regions. Explore the resort town of Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island, hike in Acadia National Park, visit charming coastal villages like Stonington, and try lobster rolls in Blue Hill... a list of fun things to do in our area of Maine is endless.
