New Mexico River Adventures

Currently recruiting for the season from March 9th, 2024 to October 20th, 2024.

New Mexico River Adventures is the premier Rafting, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding and Rock Climbing company in Northern New Mexico. We pride ourselves on providing the best Guide School and instruction in the Southwest. We are a Guide's company! Whether you're experienced or not, if you like to have fun and make money, New Mexico River Adventures is a great place to land!

In the heart of the Rio Grande Gorge, just outside of the iconic mountain town of Taos. Our Headquarters and Guide/Staff housing are located right across the street from the mighty Rio Grande!

About New Mexico River Adventures

Northern New Mexico boasts some of the most incredible opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, allowing for a seamless transition into winter job opportunities for those interested.  Taos is home to one of the greatest ski areas in the country and employs a number of our Guides during the off-season.  We also have Guides who head south to pursue winter river guiding positions and many who simply live their best life traveling abroad until the following New Mexico river season.  Most importantly, we have a great team of unique, hard-working and kind professionals who all help to inspire and look out for each other on and off the job.  

Ideal Candidate

Our incredible team consists of river professionals, teachers, students, adventure racers, parents and explorers. We are always looking for excited, hardworking and genuine people to join the team in a variety of capacities. NMRA is considered the leader in river outfitting in New Mexico. This is in large part due to the level of skill and professionalism that our Guides display on a daily basis.

Room and Board

NMRA's boathouse backs up to 6.5 acres of BLM land with stunning canyons and private hikes! We have a variety of covered raised wooden platforms, as well as several camping locations. We want our staff to make their platforms as personalized as possible! Moreover, we provide areas for people to park vans, campers, etc. We also supply a communal kitchen with personal dry storage bins and refrigerator space, as well as a bathroom and showers. Did we mention we are right across the street from the beautiful Rio Grande? 

Employee Perks

Have you ever wanted to try whitewater kayaking? What about stand-up paddle boarding? Kayaks, rafts and stand-up paddle boards; we allow our staff to responsibly use our equipment for personal use on the river. Our staff receives a discount on outdoor gear through our company. Not to mention, all staff receives a variety of NMRA guide gear as well as great discounts in our retail store!

Getting Here and Getting Around

We provide parking for our staff at our headquarters. Our commuting staff does a great job of offering fellow staff members transportation. We are lucky to be minutes away from the historic village of Dixon, NM which has a great Cooperative Market for guides to grab groceries or a delicious sandwich from their deli!

For Fun

Beautiful Northern New Mexico is full of incredible art, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, music and boating of course! The state's diverse geography allows you to experience both the colorful high desert as well as the breathtaking alpine environment. Our company is located 20 minutes South of the historic town of Taos, NM and an hour North of Santa Fe, NM. Not to mention, we are minutes away from the take-out point of our most popular section of the Rio Grande!

We are minutes away from fantastic private boating opportunities such as the class V sections of the Upper Taos Box, Rio Pueblo and Rio Embudo. We have one of the longest running seasons in the southwest, from March 9th to mid October, and as an experienced Guide, you will have ample opportunities to grow responsibilities and increase your earnings with NMRA.     River Guide

    River Guide (experienced or first time!) Learn to guide rafts and kayaks on up to class IV Rio Grande and Rio Chama trips in beautiful Northern New Mexico. We are always looking for both experienced and non-experienced river guides. If you have no experience but would like to learn and eventually become a New Mexico river guide on the Rio Grande and Rio Chama, we are known for one of the best Guide Training programs in the Southwest. If you have prior experience as a commercial river guide, please send us your professional resume and a summary of professional and medical certifications. We provide our staff with competitive and livable wages as well as housing opportunities. We are looking for commitment through Labor Day weekend with the exception being students, faculty or other unique circumstances.
