Moby Dick’s is a very busy seasonal seafood restaurant which is open from early May until Columbus Day (mid-October). 2024 is our 42nd season. We are committed to excellence all the time – every day.

Where We Are
Wellfleet is a beautiful seaside village located on the outer Cape. It is 12 miles south of Provincetown (which is at the very tip of Cape Cod) and about a 2-hour drive from Boston.

Furthermore, we are located in an extremely beautiful and protected town on Cape Cod (66% of Wellfleet is located within the Cape Cod National Seashore). The ideal candidate has a passion for the restaurant business and loves to meet new people and make new friends. A "can-do" attitude, a willingness to learn and work as part of a team, and a positive, upbeat personality is necessary.
Room and Board
One of the most difficult aspects of working and living on Cape Cod is securing an affordable place to live. Moby Dick's has gone above and beyond all other restaurants on the Outer Cape by providing the BEST rental housing for all our employees who need it.
Moby Dick's has a three-bedroom house, a four-bedroom house, and eight cottages all within walking or riding distance to the restaurant. All units are newly renovated and have full kitchen facilities, TV, radio, linens, and towels, and are fully furnished. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available on-premises.
The houses and cottages are all different sizes and each holds from 2 to 6 people. All rooms are shared between 2 people (there are a limited number of singles). Smoking indoors is prohibited and pets of any kind are not allowed.
Rent is $170 per week and includes all utilities. Upon successful completion of your work agreement (dates agreed to work) and a checkout inspection (to make sure there is no damage and that the place is clean) we will refund $25 for every week worked. Thus rent is actually $145 per week which is extremely affordable for the quality of housing we offer!
Employee Perks
We schedule full-time staff to work 6 days a week. We try to split up shifts so that you work a few days shifts and a few evening shifts (so you can have time to visit all the amazing Wellfleet beaches and so you also have some evenings free to have a BBQ, go to the movies, or go to Provincetown). These 6 shifts equal 38-40 hours. If you are willing to be flexible and are motivated there is the opportunity to pick up extra hours in season. For example, on rainy days we are very busy at lunch (no one can go to the beach) and we are always looking for extra staff. If you are scheduled to work an evening shift this would be the perfect time to pick up some extra hours.
Furthermore, we cross-train, and the more you are able and willing to do the more opportunity you will have to pick up extra hours - if you desire.
Compensation is negotiable and is based upon experience, skill, and performance. Pay is by check weekly. There is tipping. Tips are collected after every shift and are shared with both front and back of house. Tips are distributed every Friday evening after work.
For our staff, all menu items are 1/2 price all the time.
We will have a staff of roughly 40 people. Our staff will consist of American college students, American high school students, students from the United Kingdom, Jamaica, and Europe. When you are off duty there is always a number of fellow staff members who are off too. It is a great time to go to the beach, for a hike, a bike ride, or watch an amazing sunset over Cape Cod Bay, or simply relax with new friends!

Getting Here and Getting Around
Getting here is easy! You can drive (cars are allowed), take the bus (easy from New York City or Boston), or you can fly into Provincetown (the tip of the Cape, 12 miles away).
For Fun
Amazing beaches, fresh water ponds, great hiking, the Cape Cod bike trail, and drive-in movies aren't the only things to do for fun here on Cape Cod!
Provincetown is just minutes away and is fun to walk and explore. (For an amazing experience go on a whale watch!). The Harbor Stage Theater is located on Wellfleet harbor and the Wellfleet Harbor Actor's Theater is just a mile away. Other fun activities in the area include: the Audubon Sanctuary in south Wellfleet, the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor's center in Eastham, and the Orleans Redbirds baseball club which is part of the Cape Cod Baseball League (the premier summer baseball league in the USA). Also, don't forget to visit Chatham, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard!
