    Van Driver for free area shuttle; This is a position with great tips, for great personalities! Copper Town Shuttle operates the SCHEDULED SHUTTLE SYSTEM inside Wrangell St-Elias National Park. The Copper Town Shuttle is seeking Drivers for summer 2024!

    The Parking Lot Footbridge to McCarthy Center - A 1-mile loop greeting arriving guests to the area - and bringing them to Downtown McCarthy -  Our Parking Lot Footbridge to McCarthy Center Loop is how guests are welcomed to town!

    FANTASTIC TIPS as this is a customer focused, SCHEDULED SHUTTLE SERVICE, sponsored by local businesses in downtown McCarthy. This means YOU get to drive people around in cool vehicles and share our awesome history. If you are an outgoing driver/tour guide pro, then we want to hear from you!

    Requirements:

    • Must be over 25 years old (Insurance requirement).
    • This is a full time, salaried position: 40 hour per workweek; some split shifts required. 
    • Kind, careful drivers.   
    • Must provide a current MVR. 
    • CDL PREFERED But a limited number of non cdl positions are available.
    • Vehicle inspection for start of day and end of day.

    Able to care for fleet vehicle cleanliness, including interior and exterior spot checks and cleanup. you will also be a part of the cleaning crew for the vehicles. This means cleaning your vehicle is required every day. Expect about 20 to 30 minutes per day at the start and end of each shift dedicated to cleaning your vehicle. Keeping the vehicles in top condition starts with cleanliness - something to stay on top of when operating on gravel roads. 

    HOUSING AND FOOD IS FREE 

    Housing is shared rooms. (Some tents available for single option Housing).

    Internet (wifi) available. Free wifi is always available. Local hi-speed wifi for $40 month is available. Verizon is the only cell company that works in Wrangell St-Elias National Park. Download WhatsApp for Voip use. All housing options include showers, laundry and kitchen use as well as free food provided for you to cook and clean up after yourself. 

    All housing includes meal program of stocked kitchens for most items needed for meals. Staff cook and clean up after themselves in shared employee kitchens. Items provided include all basics as well as most produce and proteins. A complete list of Pantry, refrigerated and frozen items provided for staff is available to applicants. Most staff supplement their kitchen with some out of pocket expenses including eating at restaurants in the area, having Amazon products shipped in, purchases in town and at grocery stores in McCarthy, Valdez or Glennallen. Expect the majority of what you need on site and at no cost, but also expect your dietary substitutes to be your responsibility. Dietary issues and preferences such as Celiac, Vegans and vegetarians have an especially difficult time in remote locations due to logistics of special item needs.  

     

    One final note of advice regarding far away places to work:

    In any remote location (such as wilderness Alaska or an island in the ocean) you will be on an adventure - and your control over your food will be your biggest struggle. The reality is, what's easy to get in the real world, like any specific item you crave, may be missing from your remote Alaska summer diet. We have decades of experience feeding crews in remote Alaska, your happiness matters to us - if your happy, our guests will be happy.     Dishwasher

    $15.00 - $18.00 / hour + tips

    Full time;

    Dishwashers will perform the following tasks:

    • Transferring equipment from storage areas to workstations.
    • Cleaning the floor and walls.
    • Offering help to the cooking staff.
    • Maintaining stock supply of food.
    • Operating dishwasher machines.

    Skills

    • Being able to work for long hours on your feet
    • Good communication skills.

    Daily duties:

    • Collect soiled dishes from dining areas and transport them to the kitchen
    • Ensure that soiled dishes are stacked properly so that they can be picked easily for washing purposes
    • Mix liquid soap and ensure that sponges are properly immersed in the liquid
    • Clean dishes and flatware with water in order to clear them of dirt
    • Soap down dishes and ensure that they are rinsed properly
    • Place washed dishware and flatware on drying racks
    • Use drying cloth to dry dishes and flatware completely
    • Place dishes appropriately in the dishwasher
    • Remove washed dishes from the dishwasher and make arrangements to dry them if needed
    • Stack dishes properly in the storage area
    • Maintain kitchen work areas and receive and store kitchen supplies
    • Sweep kitchen floor, mop, and take the trash out
    • Ensure that the kitchen floor is properly sanitized
    • Perform preventative and regular maintenance on the dishwasher.
    • Mop stockrooms and report any hazardous situations to the kitchen or maintenance manager
    • Ensure that all dish cleaning equipment and supplies are stocked properly
    • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation duties when needed.

    Prep-Line Cook

    $15.00 - $18.00 / hour

    Line cook duties consist of assisting the chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidates will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction by creating consistent quality with solid training in various professional techniques.

    • Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
    • Weigh and measure ingredients for cooking
    • Prepare a variety of foods including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable, and cold food items
    • Prepare sauces and garnishes for the allocated station
    • Cover, date, and correctly store all food items as per safe food-handling procedures • Inform chef in advance of likely shortages
    • Serve food in keeping with the standards of the establishment
    • Ensure the correct temperature of food to make it attractive and tasty
    • Taste all food items for quality purposes before serving
    • Use food preparation tools in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
    • Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
    • Maintain an organized and sanitized work area at all times
    • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
    • Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices
    • Return dirty food preparation utensils to the dish room
    • Assist staff with other duties as assigned by kitchen manager
    • Clean kitchen before and after shift • Sanitize refrigerators and storerooms
    • Operate and maintain all kinds of kitchen appliances
    • Perform record keeping using log book entries
    • Order and take delivery of food and supplies
    • Report any unforeseen circumstances, maintenance needs or faulty equipment to the manager
    • Maintain outstanding working relationships with staff, guests, and supervisors 

    Qualifications:

    • 3+years’ experience in foodservice and hospitality arena
    • Well-versed in preparing food items consistently while adhering to recipe standards
    • Highly skilled in setting up stations in the restaurant
    • Committed to practice, check, and strengthen food safety procedures
    • Competent at creating and upholding a safe working environment
    • Able to re-stock all items as required all through shift
    • Proven record of delivering outstanding customer service
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with patrons and staff
    • Good math and written communication skills
    • Track record of working in a flexible timetable based on employer’s requirements
    • Possess food handler’s card (you can take an online course when you are in McCarthy)
    • Eager to perform all kinds of additional tasks assigned by the manager
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain quick, accurate and excellent customer relationships
    • Proficient in maintaining a safe working environment utilizing food safety plan
    • Track record of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment

    The work week is 40 hours per week

    Hourly wage of $15 to $18, plus some tips.

    Housekeeping

    $15.00 - $17.00 / hour + tips

    Our season is May 10th through September 20th. Housekeeping Responsibilities include:

    • Housekeeping duties include Laundry Room, folding, washing drying linens, bathrobes, towels.
    • Strip rooms of checkouts; Prep materials for making up room.
    • Cleaning of guest rooms, including vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning windows, making beds, folding linens, setting amenities and general appearance of the guest rooms and common areas.
    • Bathrooms cleaned.
    • Tidy rooms for 'stay overs'.
    • Maintain a presentable parlor/lobby and entrance areas
    • Other task related to resort grounds as needed. This includes other common room cleaning to provide full time work during the slower parts of the season. 
    • The beginning of the season includes setting up the hotel rooms with the team; the end of the season includes closing down the hotel rooms and putting all the hotel materials away for the winter.   
       

    Requirements:

    • This is a full time position.  (up to 40 hours per week). TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS OFF
    • Willingness to work weekends and holidays. We are committed to all staff enjoying 2 consecutive days off to enjoy the area!
    • Thoroughness and well organized, complete tasks in a timely manner, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent communication skills
    • A refined sense of warm genuine hospitality - do you get along with others?
    • Over achieving attitude and enhanced work ethic
    • Able to work independently and with others
    • Strong energy level
    • Be comfortable working with guests from all over the world
    • Bilingual a plus
    • Able to lift up to 30 pounds, walking up and down stairs
