We provide basic furnishings, bed linens, pillows, and towels as well as washer and dryer and detergent. Pets are not allowed. Staff cabins are rustic.
Employee Perks
We offer competitive compensation with room and board included and three meals a day. Along with the competitive compensation, we also do tip sharing. Tips are divided between each staff member each pay period (every 2 weeks).
Getting Here and Getting Around
We highly recommend that staff bring their own vehicle so they can take advantage of all the amazing places close to the ranch on their time off. However, if they cannot bring a vehicle, we will pick them up and take them to the airport on arrival and departure. We are in a remote area, so you cannot really ride your bike into town. You would need your own vehicle to get around to other places. It is not an expectation for other staff to drive you around during your time here and ranch vehicles are not available for personal use. We encourage you to bring your own vehicle if possible.
For Fun
As we are surrounded by Federal Land, there are ample recreation opportunities for our staff to participate in. Lake Mancos State Park is located directly adjacent to the ranch and provides hiking trails, fishing holes, and ample space for water sports. The San Juan National Forest is just 3 miles away and is great for camping, hiking, biking, and 4x4 adventures. Hiking trails lead directly from the ranch onto the surrounding land. World class mountain biking is just minutes away. There are numerous fun mountain towns to take a day trip to as well. As we are so close to the four corners, you can easily head into Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico too. With 8 National Parks within a 4 hour drive, there is never a shortage of activities to enjoy. We are happy to share the best-kept secrets of the southwest with you, and we are sure you will fall in love with the location!

Server
The dining room server is in charge of providing genuine hospitality in a variety of meal settings: indoor dining, patio dining, cookouts, etc. They are responsible for serving food to both the guests and the staff, making sure all dishes are done, and cleaning up after meals. They are responsible for the cleanliness of the dining room area, saloon, and general upkeep of the front of the lodge. They work closely with kitchen staff to ensure the superior presentation of food, making sure the buffet is replenished, and always having drinks stocked. Servers have close contact with our guests, so it is compulsory to be customer-service oriented. They must be outgoing, clean, organized, and conscientious. Dinner time servers are also responsible for working the bar at happy hour.
Housekeeper
Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning guest cabins. They do a general cleaning of each cabin every weekday (making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping porches, etc.) and a deep cleaning of all the cabins once a week. Housekeepers are responsible for all the ranch laundry including guest bedding and towels, kitchen rags and aprons, and tack room laundry. They are responsible for cleaning all public areas such as the fitness room, TV room, and pool area. Housekeepers are required to help with dishes or clearing tables and must have a willingness to help in the lodge as needed with opening and closing duties.
Housekeepers must be hardworking and clean conscious.
Cooks
We are looking to hire both breakfast/lunch cooks and a dinner cook. They are responsible for food preparation for both guests and staff. Responsibilities include preparing meals using established recipes, providing direction to other lodge staff, maintaining inventory to minimize food waste and upholding standards for cleanliness and organization. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, whereas dinner is served “family” style with entrees and side dishes served on platters and refilled until everyone has had enough. They must have experience accommodating different dietary restrictions in addition to the set menu that is served. Experience cooking for large groups of people is a must, and a restaurant background is strongly encouraged.
Wrangler
At least 1 full season of trail guiding experience is a requirement for this position. Wranglers must be outgoing and friendly, hardworking, and have excellent, proven horse skills. This job requires hard work and long hours, and lots of contact with guests. Wranglers must have a positive attitude towards their job and the ranch, and must be able to get along well with our guests. They should be familiar with riding rough terrain and have a good sense of direction. General knowledge of safety standards for horse care and handling and equipment used in horse care is a must. Safety for guests, staff and horses are always priority.
Wranglers are supervised by the Head Wrangler and work with him/her to take care of the horses (feeding, grooming, veterinary care), saddle and unsaddle, lead guest/staff on trail rides, supervise arena activities including team penning and the children’s rodeo, give riding lessons to children and adults, and the daily cleaning of the barn and loading area. We have approx. 70 horses and wranglers must learn them all by sight, name, and personality.
You might be asked to ride a young or problem horse in the arena or on the trails so experience training horses is helpful, however, the Head Wrangler will assess your ability when you arrive and will not ask you to do any training you are not comfortable with or not skilled to do.
In addition, wranglers are required to participate in certain guest activities every week including, but not limited to, eating at least one meal with the guests (not during covid) and participating in our farewell Awards night.
Maintenance of all trails, pasture fences, corrals, tack room, and barn are also part of the wrangler’s duties.
Experience driving a team of horses, shoeing horses, operating a tractor, and driving a truck and trailer are helpful but not necessary.
