The Guest Services Manager is a full-time salaried position directly responsible for management of the front desk and housekeeping operations. They are also integral to managing guest relations and guest satisfaction from the time of the reservation through the guest’s stay. They are also responsible for interdepartmental communications.
Responsibilities
- Set and enforce customer service standards and procedures.
- Hiring and training of all Guest Services personnel.
- Handle guest requests and satisfy needs within acceptable guidelines.
- Build relationships with guests to create loyalty and encourage repeat visits.
- Act as on-island point of contact for large groups and full islands.
- Manage all aspects of Guest Services team operations.
- Schedule Guest Services and Housekeeping staff and supervise workload during shifts.
- Ongoing coaching and training of reservations and front desk staff.
- Communicate with all departments any necessary information regarding guest needs.
- Create and distribute weekly reports to department heads.
- Ensure the preparation and distribution of daily reports.
- Maintain inventory of gift shop, office, and first aid supplies.
- Coordinate the Manager on Duty Schedule and serve as Manager on Duty 1-2 nights a week.
- Manage Island gift shop.
- Assist in taking reservations, running guest orientations, and other duties as needed.
- Assist with marketing efforts such as e-blasts and maintaining email database.
- Any other tasks or duties as delegated by the General Manager.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to courteously present information in one-on-one and in group situations.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn reservation system.
- Outgoing, charismatic, and able to connect easily with varying personalities.
- Ability to be an effective leader.
- Calm and rational thinker who can diplomatically handle difficult situations.
- Multi-task and manage many responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
- Enthusiasm for the outdoor world, conservation, and sustainability.
- Willingness to learn and enjoyment in doing so.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
Job Requirements
- Ability to live on the Island (We provide staff housing but are unable to accommodate pets and non-employees)
- High school diploma or equivalent. Some college/bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year of demonstrated relevant hospitality qualification or experience in a hotel, resort, or similar business.
- Must be able to successfully complete background check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods.
- This position is often required to give tours of our twenty-acre Lodge Compound, and assist in other departments as needed, some of which require being on your feet for long stretches of time. Please be aware this is not your typical “desk job.”
