About Lewis & Clark Expeditions
Our family-owned company offers whitewater rafting trips and scenic float trips on the Snake River in northwestern Wyoming. With over 50 years of experience, we're at the doorstep of Grand Teton National Park and just an hour from Yellowstone. Our experienced staff often returns year after year and we're proud of the personal touch we provide by being a boutique operation focused on customer service.
Our base of operations is in a great neighborhood in the town of Jackson, Wyoming, within walking distance to great restaurants, groceries and Target. There's a public park right across the street from our office. (The term "Jackson Hole" applies to the whole area, not just the town.) We have a solid core of returning staff each year and look forward to welcoming new members whether for a single season or long term.
The Employee Experience
Working at Lewis & Clark is a customer service-oriented, full-time or part-time seasonal position. We are located in an amazingly beautiful valley that is the gateway to two national parks. Employees who thrive with us possess great people skills, wear a smile on their face, are self-motivated to work hard, and maintain composure with last-minute changes in logistics. The staff is encouraged to be creative and bring ideas to the table regarding streamlining processes or solving problems to improve our operation. Being a team player and upholding a positive attitude throughout the season is a must.
We're a small company (~25 total employees) that looks out for one another. We strive to meet expectations regarding schedules and hours worked. This camaraderie is evident in the post-work day atmosphere with group dinners, evening paddles, music, and socializing. New staff will often meet lifelong friends through this work hard, play hard atmosphere at L & C. We are a ready-made family to provide support and encouragement for all our staff in living their "best life". We feel it's important to have time off to enjoy the outdoors and other personal pursuits that drew you to Jackson Hole.
Ideal Candidate
Working at Lewis & Clark River Expeditions instantly makes you part of a team. You'll want to be part of the tight-knit crew that works together to make sure our guests experience a seamless adventure. Whether it’s providing an exceptionally safe river trip, outfitting wetsuits, taking reservations, or driving guests to and from the river - the teamwork never ends. There is no single task.. you'll need to pitch in on many over the course of the day.
Room and Board
L & C has a limited amount of employee housing. We have a 2br/2ba + loft unit. The housing has a full kitchen, washer/dryer, dishwasher, wifi, and all utilities included. It is furnished with 6 twin beds, a sofa, flat-screen tv, and kitchen necessities. The housing is deeply discounted and available from May 15th-Sept 30. Typical rent is $350/month/person but can be less depending on the number of employees in housing. We will house up to 6 people in this condo (2 per room), usually office staff.
Alternatively, some employees choose to live in campervans or small RVs or their cars for the season. "Van Life" is popular in the valley and quite common. We provide overnight parking, access to bathrooms, and to kitchen facilities for those who wish to park overnight at our office. It's an easy walk to Albertson's supermarket and Target.
Drivers and other staff may have access to camper, rv or van housing we provide on-site. It's not deluxe.
Employee Perks
We work hard to ensure that our staff has access to the latest river and outdoor/camping gear with pro-form pricing from many different top brands. Additionally, it is important to us that our staff is provided with sufficient training opportunities to expand their industry-related skill sets if desired.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Our headquarters is located at 180 Powderhorn Lane in Jackson WY. We recommend that you have access to a car while in Jackson. Possibly you come with a friend/co-worker and share a vehicle. Visiting the national parks and other attractions is difficult without wheels. Daily tasks like getting to and from work, grocery shopping, etc can be managed with a bicycle or e-bike. There is an extensive pathway system in the area and this is an efficient way to get around the town. Jackson also has a free public bus system that operates within the town limits.
For Fun
Jackson Hole has it all: hike, bike, climb, raft, ride, fish, camp, photograph, stargaze, dance, attend free concerts, visit national parks, and more. This is a mecca for summer seasonal workers who want to have a memorable season enjoying all the area has to offer. Our little mountain community has a weekly farmers market on Saturday and a "people's market" on Wednesdays (all kinds of goods). There is a free summer concert series, lots of restaurants, bars and nightlife.
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is our home, and home to the last fully-intact collection of species in the lower 48. All the critters still roam free here, from grizzlies to marmots. You just have to go look for them. It's a great playboat paddle scene, blue-ribbon fishery, mountaineering, and rock-climbing mecca, river recreation from lazy paddle-boarding to class IV kayaking. Even more fun is less than a day's drive in nearby Eastern Idaho or the legendary Wind River Range.
