Horn's Bar, built in 1898, is a classic saloon setting with a large old wooden back bar and tin ceiling. Serving lunch and dinner daily with nightly entertainment featuring solo acts to full bands. We are looking for motivated Bartenders and Servers. Menu is a mix of bar pub food and Tex / Mex entrees. The pace of the job is fast with high volume during the peak season. Ideal Candidate
Horn’s Bar & Yankee Rebel Tavern is looking for motivated and experienced seasonal service Staff that can work our six-month season. We search for staff members with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and an outgoing service orientated personality. Our goal is to provide friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient service to our guests.
We employ 75 staff members between the two restaurants. Positions currently available are Bartenders & Servers. Housing is available, mostly apartments - 2 or 3 bedrooms; these units are fully furnished with living room, full kitchen, internet, cable TV and laundry. Rent varies from $110.00 per week to $125.00 per week depending on location, utilities are included.
A typical workweek schedule is five shifts per week and more during the busy times of July and August. Most shifts are scheduled for eight hours but can be longer or shorter based on daily business demands. All staff work a mix of both day and evening shifts.
Room and Board
Housing is available; we have various apartments or houses for rent. All units require sharing a bedroom with a roommate. Each housing unit is fully furnished and has a full kitchen, living room and shared bathroom. Includes internet, cable TV and coin laundry facilities. Rent is figured on a weekly basis, the rate range is $110.00 to $125.00 per week, this includes all utilities. Housing deposit required upon move-in. An employee meal plan is offered to all staff at a discounted rate.

Mackinac is a special place. Coming to work on Mackinac Island (An Indian word pronounced Mack-in-aw) is like stepping back in time - a place where there are no cars, only horses and bicycles. A five mile ferry boat ride brings you to Mackinac Island. There is a natural harbor downtown with a ninety slip marina and Fort Mackinac (built by the British Army in 1780) overlooking the harbor and town. Getting Here and Getting Around
Getting to Mackinac:
Mackinac (MACK-in-aw) is located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Five miles east of the Mackinac Bridge in Lake Huron. Take a ferry boat ride (Shepler or Star Line) both operate from either St. Ignace in the Upper Pennisula or Mackinaw City in the Lower Peninsula. Both offer seasonal parking arrangements for those arriving with cars.
Driving
Interstate 75 runs north and south and US 2 runs east and west. Mackinac is 285 miles north of Detroit, about 5 hours driving time.
Air Travel
The closest regional airport is Pellston (PLN) 20 miles south on US 31 in Emmet County, with service from Detroit by Delta airlines. Chippewa International Airport (CIU) is located 30 miles north in Chippewa County (Upper Pennisula) with service provided by Delta Airlines with connections from Detroit and Minneapolis, MN.
There is a shuttle bus service from Pellston to Mackinaw City, see Mackinaw Shuttle Service. Also, check out the Mackinaw City Tourism Bureau website and Mackinacisland.org for more information about accommodations and travel.
Other area airports include Traverse City Cherry Capital (TVC) airport is 130 miles south on US 31 with air service provided by Delta, American, and United from both Detroit and Chicago. Other airports to investigate are Flint, Lansing and Grand Rapids, all are approximately 225 miles south.
Bus Service
Indian Trails Bus Company has bus service from most major cities in Michigan to Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.
Getting Around:
We have no cars here, only horses and bikes. You take a five-mile ferry boat ride to arrive on Mackinac Island. Mackinac does provide a Horse-drawn Taxi service, 906 847-3323 to assist in your arrival. Be sure to bring a bike, if you have one, as there are many miles of trails to ride and bicycle riding is the main mode of transportation.

Great trails for Mountain Bike Riding, Walks and Running! Walk the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day! Participate in one of three Foot Races - June, September, and October.
Rent a kayak and paddle around the shore! Rollerblade on one of the many paved roads! Internet cafes are available! The library is open six days a week! Take a Sunset Cruise under the Mackinac Bridge! Go horseback riding! Swim in the Great Lakes! See a show at the Mission Point Movie Theatre!
There are over 60 miles of roads, paths, and trails on Mackinac winding through the State Park and around town. The trails are great for Mountain bike riding of all levels.
Mackinac is a runner’s paradise, with a choice of flat terrain around the island shore road or the hilly terrain of the trails inside the park. Three competitive races are held each year, a 10 K early June and mid-September and a half marathon at the end of October, each race draws over 1,000 racers.
Horseback riding is available from the two stables on the Island, with special horse jumping trails set up within the park.
Organized softball and volleyball leagues during the summer months provide those interested in team sports a chance to compete with fellow workers.
There are two golf courses open to the public; both can be walked in the evening after regular hours for free.
Swim in the yacht basin downtown or at secluded British Landing, the lake is slow to warm but refreshing during the hot summer days. Boating and kayaking are also fun pastimes for those with access to these crafts in the Straits around the Island.
Mackinac is also the finishing line for two of the largest freshwater sailboat races in the country. Races are annual events starting on Saturday in mid-July (one from Chicago to Mackinac and the other Port Huron to Mackinac). Races have 200 to 300 participating sailboats with thousands of sailors that bring family and friends to join in the festivities.
Mackinac is also an artist inspiration, providing wonderful scenery and backdrops for those that like to paint or sketch. The Grand Hotel hosts a summer-long presentation of the Richard Manoogian Early American Art Collection at the Hotel.
There are weekly free Concerts In the Marquette Park featuring regional artists, June through August.
