This person will split their time approximately 50/50 between working on the Home Ranch ranchhand crew and guiding flyfishing.
As a Fishing Guide: you will guide friends, family, and business associates of the ranch owners on miles of private water on the Elk River and its ponds and tributaries. You will keep gear clean, organized in good repair, and ready to use at all times. You will also be given time to scout and get to know the ranch waters in order to assure your guests of the best possible experience.
Actual Guiding experience is not necessary, but excellent flyfishing, people and organizational skills will be essential.
As a Ranchhand: every day will be different, with work ranging from fixing and building fences, cleaning corrals, clearing trails and brush to keeping vehicles clean and landscaping: really anything thing that can come up on a diverse mountain property. Depending on interest and experience you may occasionally help with livestock or horse work, but this is not a cowboy/wrangler job.
Experience is not necessary, only an appetite for hard work outdoors, but an aptitude for tool and equipment operation and landscaping or construction-type work will be helpful.
