Seasonal (May & June) Weekend Retail Event Manager or Assistant

We are looking for a cheerful, plant loving person to manage or assist with our seasonal, weekend plant retail operation in the early summer. Our retail events are famous for having plants curated for the rough Montana environment in a festive environment on the Yellowstone River.

Our most qualified applicants will have:

  • Professional experience with a wide array of annuals & perennials.
  • An understanding of containerized plant care with regard to watering, spacing, light requirements, pests & disease, etc
  • A keen eye for creating eye-catching displays and other merchandising.
  • An outgoing, friendly, professional demeanor.
  • A fun-loving spirit that wants to connect with the community.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide an excellent client experience during weekend retail events. This includes assisting shoppers with their selections, cashing out customers, and carrying flowers/soil/products to vehicles. It also entails creating and maintaining displays and general plant care.

This position is ideal for someone looking for a recurring seasonal gig in a stunning location. If you prefer the quiet of recreating on the weekdays and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-friendly environment, this is a great opportunity. While the ideal candidate would be looking to capitalize on their professional experience in the landscape/horticulture industry, we would be happy to teach an outgoing individual who is motivated to learn and grow with us.

Must be available for retail hours on Saturdays & Sundays, May 3rd thru June 30th. It would be great to have you work the retail events on Fridays as well. Other work within the organization is available both during the week and throughout the season from March through November but is not necessary to qualify for this position.

The other work available includes Spring planting, watering, and maintaining our plants in the greenhouses daily throughout the retail season. We also install, water, and maintain daily the Livingston downtown hanging baskets and our commercial installations. Our garden service team maintains high-end residential properties and performs small-scale landscape installations throughout the summer and fall. Our cut flower farm is on the rise so there is always work to be had.

We do not provide housing however we do have an arrangement with the farm next to our greenhouses that allows an RV or camper on site for the work season. This farm sits on an ideal spot on the river across from the town parks, trail, and events complex, which is blocks from downtown. There are also multiple camper/motor home establishments and camp spots in the area.

Come join our team of outdoor enthusiasts and passionate plant lovers who make up Heather's crews. It is common to find us biking to work and taking in a quick paddle, a sunset hike, live music in the adjoining park or sitting on our beach after the days work or on the weekend together. Our fully engaged owner's quirky humor and the team's mix of mature and young make for an enlivened, funky friendly work environment with a rich knowledge of the industry. Come join our fun-loving, river-running team of passionate plant gals and guys in a stunning place.
