Oversee daily operations of our Boundary Waters canoe outfitting business. Activity Cook

Prepare meals outdoors for guided activities and unique and memorable dining experiences, such as preparing shore lunch, campfire meals, etc. Knowledge of food safety, fire safety, and a variety of cooking techniques and food preparation is required, as is the ability to pack and carry food and cooking equipment on uneven terrain and in and out of canoes, UTVs and other transportation means. The ability to lead campfire songs, with or without a musical instrument, is even better yet.

Varied shifts working with a team and individually. Must have ability to multi-task when necessary. This position requires a working knowledge of repair work in electric, plumbing, and small construction projects. Knowledge of small engine, marine and snowmobile engine repair strongly recommended. This person will also be doing most maintenance repairs as needed and is responsible for water quality testing on a daily basis. Maintenance positions are responsible for the over-all mechanical repair of the entire 100+ acre property with more than 50 structures. Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record and be able to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds. This position will require both indoor and outdoor work outdoors in all weather conditions. Knowledge of skid steer equipment, snowmobiles, boats, plow truck, and tractor operation and maintenance a plus. Septic and pool maintenance experience preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. This position requires a person who is self-directed, takes initiative and is able to motivate self and others. At Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters you will provide excellent service to our guests and interact with people who enjoy wilderness adventure and who love the outdoors! We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to answer phones, greet our guests when they arrive and check out, answer questions and anticipate and respond to guest needs, and make retail sales from our gift shop. This person may also be responsible for opening or closing activities, retail merchandising, and training and overseeing a team of Guest Service Associates at our reception, managing and merchandising our gift shop and overseeing the Housekeeping team.
In this position you will be part of a guest services team where the guest is your top priority. You will be a key component in assuring that we deliver the best possible experience for our guests, since you will be face to face with them on a daily basis. All of their questions and concerns will be directed to you and our objective is to trust you to represent our resort in these situations. You will be a key member of our leadership team, ensuring that excellent guest services are delivered and leading, mentoring, and developing associates.
May include varied shifts including both morning and evening shifts as required based off of business need. The schedules are set for 40 hours per week with two consecutive days off. Although you may be hired for a specific position, there are times when you may be called upon to fulfill other job duties. In a resort atmosphere we all pitch in wherever necessary to get the job done. With that in mind, we are looking for applicants who are extremely flexible and like a variety of work.
Job duties include guest orientation of our property, review of guest packages, reservation processing, data entry, telephone communications, answering guest questions, cleaning/organizing, and any other duties that may be asked of team members, as well as scheduling, training and supervising our team of Guest Service Associates. Other tasks include development of pricing and packages, revenue management, reporting, and management of our housekeeping team. Groundskeeper/Landscaping
Keep our grounds looking their best and our guests happy! As a member of our Facilities Maintenance team responsible for Grounds Maintenance, you will be responsible for the beautification of all outdoor areas Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters while providing and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position includes planting, watering, weeding and mowing in the spring and summer and trail maintenance and snow clearing and grooming in the winter. Ability to operate light equipment and perform manual labor is required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Consistently provide a professional experience when handling an internal or external guest requests
• Assist the Facilities Manager in achieving department goals
• Plant flowers, foundation plants and shrubbery, water and care for plants, separate and transplant plants as needed
• Clear/ remove snow and ice from sidewalks
  • Operate various snow removal equipment, including snow blower, snow plow and skid steer
  • Use hand tools like shovels 
  • Spread sand during icy conditions
• Monitor, maintain and transport all resort recycling & trash
  • Assist with recycling program by sorting when needed
• Ability to groom ski and dog mushing trails, hiking trails, etc. using hand and power equipment, including chain saw, snowmobile groomer and PistonBulley
• Understand occupational hazards and follow safety precautions
• Overall cleanliness and appearance of all resort areas, including removing litter 
• Assist in the upkeep and preventive maintenance of resort property, i. e. signs, benches, trash/recycling receptacles
• Ability to work as an individual and as a member of a team
• Ability to follow written and oral instruction, work without supervision, and recognize and maintain time schedules & deadlines.
• Able to meet requirements for Company's vehicle usage with respect to all laws, Company policies and procedures

You will lead our resort guests on day trips of 4 to 6 hours into the Boundary Waters. You will transport canoes and guests to Boundary Waters entry points, paddle your own canoe, and assist guests with learning to paddle, portage their canoes, and provide interpretive information about the history and nature of the Boundary Waters area to create a memorable experience and introduction to the Boundary Waters.

• Take part in check-in procedures, including reservations and safety waivers

• Guide trips on several different routes while sharing nature and history information to create a unique bond with this wilderness area
