Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery is one of the newest and busiest restaurants and the only brewery on charming Mackinac Island! Located downtown in the middle of all the fudge and fun, The Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery delights guests with an upbeat, fun casual atmosphere, delicious food, signature cocktail flights, our very own craft beer and spirits, and on most days live entertainment!
Mackinac Island is located between Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas. The Island's natural beauty has been preserved as automobiles are not allowed and 80% of the island is state park. Living on Mackinac Island you will be surrounded by woods and water, yet just a quick ferry ride and short drive from interesting towns and cities in Michigan! The nearest airport is just a 30 minute drive.

Join the hottest new restaurant on Mackinac Island! Located in the heart of downtown Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery opened in 2020 to rave reviews! As the only brewery on this award-winning resort island, Great Turtle promises a fast-paced, fun-filled summer of delighting guests with casual, delicious food, cocktail flights and five of our very own craft beers. The Employee Experience

As part of The Great Turtle you will work with individuals from all over the US as well as the world. In your free time, you may find yourself biking and hiking beautifully wooded trails, kayaking on the Great Lakes that surround Mackinac Island, and hanging out with newfound friends.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidates will be motivated, enthusiastic and focused on delighting our guests. We require teamwork to create an outstanding dining experience. Prior restaurant experience is helpful, but not required. A positive attitude is mandatory.
Room and Board
Housing is set up apartment style, typically two or three bedrooms per apartment with 2 individuals per bedroom. Each apartment includes restroom(s), kitchen, living room, wi-fi and access to a washer and dryer. Housing is $125 per week.

Staff discounts are available at our restaurants and fudge shops. Bikes are available for purchase or season-long rental at discounted rates.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Individuals take a ferry to Mackinac Island from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.
Mackinac Island is small and quaint - everything is within walking or biking distance. Bring your own bike or buy one on The Island.
For Fun
Mackinac Island is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Eighty percent of the island is state park so there is an abundance of trails for hiking, biking and exploring.
Boating, swimming and fishing are among the many water activities right outside your door. Enjoy frisbee. basketball or soccer? Join fellow staff in Marquette Park or Great Turtle Park for a fun game.
During your time on Mackinac Island, you will meet guests and fellow staff from all over the world. Our team typically consists of individuals from Europe, Asia, Jamaica as well as the USA.
There is a historic theater on Mackinac Island showing movies. Art and recreation classes are held by the Mackinac Arts Council, and Concerts in the Park are performed all summer.
A short ferry boat ride to the mainland will allow for activities such as movies, bowling, site seeing and various festivals throughout the summer.
Head north to enjoy the natural beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Travel about an hour north to visit Canada. (Passport required.) Head south to enjoy the beauty of Lake Huron to the east or Lake Michigan and the Sand Dunes to the west.

Dining Room Server
Bring your smile and delight our guests! Great Turtle servers will take food and beverage orders, deliver food, maintain a neat and orderly dining room, and observe all health and safety procedures. Join the staff of Great Turtle and create Great Food, Great Drink and Great Service!
Bartender
Put your mixology and fun skills to the test. Great Turtle Bartenders will be responsible for serving high-quality drinks to guests as well as taking drink orders and maintaining a neat and orderly bar.
Host
Hosts are the beginning of a great dining experience! Great Turtle hosts will greet and seat guests as well as help maintain a tidy dining room. Join the team of Great Turtle and create Great Food, Great Drink and Great Service!
Retail Associate
Retail Associates will assist customers with purchases of the latest Great Turtle Brewery gear. Associates will process sales, restock merchandise and maintain a neat and tidy store.
Line Cook
Casual brewery style food is what's cooking at Great Turtle. Line cooks will use their talents to prepare, cook and plate lunch and dinner items according to our special recipes. Staff will maintain all food safety cooking and handling standards procedures. Additional duties as assigned. Serving lunch and dinner May through October.
Kitchen Helper
Kitchen Helpers will assist throughout the kitchen as needed. Typical daily tasks include preparing food, cooking food, cleaning dishes and the kitchen in general.
Server Assistant
Our guests love their food hot and that's what our server assistants do! Typical duties include delivering food, clearing tables and helping to maintain a tidy dining room and happy customers.
