Each summer, the Girl Scouts of Alaska camp team from across the U.S. works together toward one common mission — to help every girl who attends camp develop courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.
Most summer staff will serve as Counselors. You'll work with a staff partner to plan and deliver outdoor activities to a group of 8-12 girls and supervise all aspects of your campers' day. Depending on the camp, common activities include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, environmental education, arts and crafts, trying the climbing tower, team building, and STEM programming. Now hiring at this camp:
• Camp Togowoods is located along the shores of Three Mile Lake in Wasilla, AK. Residential camp positions include Cooks and Counselors in these areas: General, Waterfront/Boating, Climbing Wall Program, Art Program, Health Program and Kitchen.
For this camp and position, compensation starts at $385/week plus food and lodging. All staff also receive a $650 travel stipend which is evenly split between each paycheck. Like with regular pay, taxes, social security and Medicare are taken from travel stipends.
Applicants must make a commitment for the full dates of employment, be at least 18 years old, possess excellent character, exert enthusiasm, patience, and understanding, work from a place of positivity, and are solution-oriented. - This is the most important part of the process. Interviews are conducted by phone. Again, there is only one interview regardless of which camp interests you After the interview, we’ll let you know within two weeks whether we’d like you to join our camp team.
- Sign and return the hiring paperwork. After we get a verbal commitment from you, we’ll send you a written hire letter. We take this commitment very seriously. For the protection of our camps and our campers, we run background checks on every person we offer a job to. If we receive negative results on the background check or a job reference after we receive your signed contract, we reserve the right to rescind the job offer.
