Everglades National Park: Flamingo, Florida

Since 1917, Guest Services has worked tirelessly to earn our reputation as the premier private hospitality management company in the United States. We are proud to provide a wide range of customized hospitality management solutions for clients involved in dining services, resorts and hotels, recreational opportunities, unique retail outlets, special events, condominium management, etc.

Visiting the Everglades allows you to explore a vast diversity of flora and fauna in different eco-systems: freshwater sloughs, marl prairies, tropical hammocks, pineland, cypress, mangrove, coastal lowlands, marine, and estuarine. There is a lot of area to discover at the Everglades!

About Flamingo Adventures

MANGROVES,  MANATEES, AND MARSHES  OH MY! Join us on the southernmost tip of the mainland United States in the beautiful Florida Everglades. The park is a nature lover's dream where nine different ecosystems converge and support a network of plants and animals that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. It happens to be the only place in the world that you can see crocodiles and alligators in the same water!

This area is just an hour away from Homestead, FL and you can be driving through the Florida Keys in under two hours!

We operate 2 large campgrounds, a marina with skiff, pontoon, bicycle, canoe, and kayak rentals, a marina store, a food kiosk, Eco-tents, boat tours, and houseboats. We have new cottages and a new restaurant to open in 2021 that will add even more jobs in Food & Beverage and Lodging. Please check our website often for official opening dates.

When our fall season comes, the bugs and humidity subside, the hurricanes are gone for the season and we are left with gorgeous weather and good friends.

The Employee Experience

Flamingo Adventures is managed by Guest Services, Inc., which is consistently rated as one of the “Best Places to Work” by it’s valued employees. For nearly a century, Guest Services has systematically built our legendary hospitality business on a simple but very important philosophy—great people, working with great clients, to serve great customers. We firmly believe that our employees are our most valuable resource. Our dedicated employees enjoy fulfilling careers where they are able to learn, grow and positively impact the local communities where we operate, while also having the opportunity to explore promotional opportunities at our other iconic locations nationwide.

Flamingo Adventures operates year-round, but peak season is November to May. We prefer that seasonal employees be available to commit to the entire season when being considered for employment.

Team members typically work 40 hours per week during peak season. Management does their best to allow for 2 consecutive days off per week, but it's not guaranteed. Team members may request days off, but depending on the needs of the business, not all requests can be guaranteed. Extended time off will not be granted during peak season. Management also does their best to grant couples the same days off; at this time we can guarantee one day off together, but we can not guarantee two. This is subject to change based on the needs of the business.

While not working, team members are encouraged to take advantage of the amenities of the property such as kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, bike riding, and camping. Team members may also travel to the closest small town of Homestead or even to the Florida Keys which is about an hour drive-time away! Miami beaches and nightlife are also within driving distance; about 2 hours.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is one who enjoys working with customers and providing a high level of service! Our team members work closely with our customers to ensure an amazing experience. We are seeking team members who are reliable, motivated, friendly, and flexible.

Team members must also be comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions including heat, humidity, and rain. There will be mosquitoes and other flying insects.

Flamingo is 40 miles from the entrance of the park so team members must also be comfortable being in a somewhat remote location.

Room and Board

Team Member Housing

Housing is available for team members. We have dormitory-style living with Jack and Jill style bathrooms. Each room can sleep up to 2 people. The rooms come furnished with twin-sized bunk beds, nightstands, lamps (tall and short), a tall dresser, and a closet. There are private rooms with their own bathrooms for managers. These rooms come furnished with either a full-size bed or bunk beds. There are 2 communal kitchens for all staff to utilize.

The cost for housing is $50 per week.

Team members will need to provide their own linens. We recommend stopping at Walmart/Target prior to arrival to get a bed-in-a-bag set as well as washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels.

At this time couples' housing is very limited. We only offer couples housing on a first come, first serve basis when available. Couples are encouraged to look into our RV sites.

Pets are not allowed in team member dorms.

We have washers and dryers on-site which are free for the team members to use. Team members must provide their own detergent.

Team members may arrive 2 days prior to their scheduled orientation date and stay 1-2 days after the end of the season depending on the circumstance.

Cell phone coverage: AT&T is the only cell phone service that works in the Flamingo area and Verizon that works at the Long Pine Key Campground that we operate.

Internet: Options available, ask for details.

Meals: we do not have an Employee Dining Room or meal plan available. We offer 50% off food from the food truck & restaurant when operating and 25% off in our marina store (all packaged/canned/prepared foods). The closest grocery store is about 50 miles away from Flamingo and 15 miles from Long Pine Key. Team members dorm residents can utilize the 2 communal kitchens in the Flamingo dorms to prepare their own food. Those residing in RV’s will not have access to dorm kitchens.

Common areas: the communal kitchens serve as the team member common areas. Each kitchen has a 55 inch TV with Direct TV and there are board games, DVDs, and books available.

RV Sites

We currently have 16 RV sites that come with full hook-ups (electricity, sewer, and water). RV's must be fully self-contained, meaning that they have a working toilet, shower, and sink.

We require a full time work week commitment to qualify for an RV spot. Those looking for part time hours do not qualify for an RV spot in employee housing. We do not have enough sites available for part-time commitments at this time.

The cost for an RV site is $25 (per person) per week.

Pets are allowed in RVs; no more than 2 dogs.

Cell phone coverage: AT&T is the only cell phone service that works in the Flamingo area and Verizon is the only service that works at the Long Pine Key Campground that we operate.

Meals: we do not have an Employee Dining Room or meal plans available. We offer 50% off food from the food truck (only open during winter season) and 25% off in our marina store (all packaged/canned/prepared foods). The closest grocery store is about 50 miles away.

Off-site Housing Options

We do have some team members who live off-site in Homestead. It typically takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to travel from Homestead to Flamingo.

There are multiple different RV Parks in the Homestead area. Pricing will vary so team members who are interested should contact the parks directly.

Rent for apartments and houses will vary based on the neighborhood, size of the property, and amenities. Rent can range anywhere from $600-$2400 per month.

Employee Perks

Team members enjoy the following perks and discounts:

  • 25% discount at marina store (excludes tobacco, alcohol, and fuel)
  • Free use of bicycles, canoes, kayaks, and skiffs with proper paperwork completed and based on availability
  • 50% off meals from the food truck (food truck is only open during peak season)

Getting Here and Getting Around

Team members are encouraged to bring their own personal vehicle. There is adequate parking free of charge. Personal vehicles are required for transportation needs that are not work-related, such as grocery store trips and other outings. The closest grocery store is about 50 miles away.

For team members flying in, the closest airport is Miami International. The 2nd closest airport is Fort Lauderdale Airport. At this time, we do not provide transportation from the airport. We recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to a public location right outside the park entrance and we will arrange a pick up from there.

For Fun

Popular onsite activities include kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, bike riding, and camping. We are also located within a reasonable driving distance from the Florida Keys, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami beaches and nightlife!

We also have two 55 inch TVs with Direct TV available for our team members in the communal kitchens as well as DVDs, books, and board games.
