About East Wind Inn

The East Wind is a small operation of about 15 staff of all different ages and backgrounds. We have fun, work hard and pitch in as needed to help one another and provide our guests with a memorable, 5-star experience. The Inn is a charming, updated, historical building with 19 guest rooms and suites, a Harborside Bistro that serves breakfast and dinner, a local pub (Quarry Tavern), outdoor seating areas, a firepit and spectacular views of the harbor. We are open May-October and our busiest months are July, August and September. We are looking for individuals who can work for most or ALL of our 2023 season!

The Employee Experience

We are thankful for our returning staff, and looking forward to adding members to the team. The food is amazing (staff meals are provided during shifts), the guests are friendly and we do whatever it takes to provide them with a superior experience. We work hard, have fun doing it, and do our best to provide a relaxing and comfortable work environment for our team. Looking for hard-working, friendly, and 'I'll do whatever needs to be done' individuals to join us.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful at the East Wind, the ideal candidate is team-oriented, hard working, willing to work 40 hours a week, eager to provide guests with 5-star service, takes pride in their work, has a positive attitude, arrives on time to their shift, and is willing to learn and work in multiple departments as needed. Most importantly, we are looking for candidates who can arrive in May and stay through the end of October.

Room and Board

Onsite employee housing is provided and is about $50 per week. We have three rooms available in the Captain's House, one of our historic buildings where guests also stay. This employee housing unit has a shared kitchen, bathroom and washer/dryer. The other lodging is a short walk up the road and can house up to 5 staff members. It has a shared kitchen, two bathrooms, washer/dryer and living quarters. We require employees to be mindful and considerate of guests, keeping noise to a minimum (especially after 9 pm) and be aware that they are representing the Inn when they are on the property.

Staff receive employee meals five nights a week and during breakfast shifts, in addition to 20% off food and drinks. We are a 2-minute walk from the local General store which also serves grab-n-go meals and beverages.

Employee Perks

Employees are eligible to receive tips via cash and credit card (which are added to paychecks) for carrying luggage, bussing tables, cleaning rooms, serving food and drinks, and working events. We typically host about 10 events each season, including weddings.

You will receive an East Wind shirt(s) that you can wear to work shifts, which are comfortable and easy to clean.

The food on the property is amazing and you will enjoy the staff meals and discounts; and the views on the property are the best around!

Getting Here and Getting Around

The local general store and post office are a one minute walk from the property. Food, coffee, water and laundry are also available onsite.

It is helpful to have a car to get around for leisure activities, but not necessary.

We can pick up and drop off employees at the Portland Jetport airport upon arrival/departure.

For Fun

Tenants Harbor is a small, fishing village full of seafood, boating, outdoor activities, culture and art.

The Happy Clam (local bar) and Schoolhouse bakery are a short walk up the road and offer great local fare.

Within a 20 minute drive are tons of local art studios, lighthouses, museums, kayaking, boating excursions, other small towns to explore, and plenty of tourist attractions. There is a Lobster Festival every summer in Rockland, July fireworks over the harbor, and a ferry terminal and dock for boating trips and day excursions.
