The Colorado Adventure Center is a well established whitewater rafting and aerial adventure company located in Idaho Springs. We are one of the largest adventure outfitters in the state, housing whitewater rafting, a fabulous Zip Line operation and brand new Aerial Adventure Park providing hours of thrills and adventure for thousands of guests each year.

Located just 30 minutes West of Denver, Colorado near the Historic Mining Town of Idaho Springs.

PROFESSIONAL COLORADO RIVER GUIDES & ACTIVITY SPECIALISTS 
All CAC guides go through intense training and are committed to the highest standards of professionalism. All of our guides are fully certified within the State of Colorado and maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. Some hold Swiftwater Rescue, ACCT, and Wilderness First Aid certifications, while others have more extensive training as EMTs and Wilderness First Responders.

Room and Board

Our basecamp is located within about a 30-minute drive from the outside of Denver. We can offer limited on-site tent and car camping for our staff members. Our main office offers a bathroom/shower, and employees receive free passes to the Recreation Center in the nearby town of Idaho Springs, about a 5-minute drive. Restaurants, grocery stores, laundry are all available in Idaho Springs.

  • Cross Department Training - Returning or qualifying staff may train in multiple departments being able to take our guests on full day adventures across all of our activities.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Our basecamp is located right along the frontage road that would take you into the nearby town of Idaho Springs within a 5-minute drive. Idaho Springs is a small town but has all the major facilities that you would need. A reliable vehicle is encouraged, but not required.

For Fun

Being outside and working in the beautiful Colorado summer is fun in and of itself but beyond your “work” our staff has access to a multitude of other activities. Within a 30 minute drive, you have the big city of Denver to the East and the Continental Divide to the West holding some of Colorado’s most amazing 14,000ft peaks. Mountain biking, hiking, climbing, kayaking, it’s hard to be able to do it all! We also encourage our staff to take part in the activities within the company as well!

    Rafting

    Whitewater River Guide

    $16.00 / hour + tips
    Idaho Springs, Colorado

    Our rafting team provides rugged, exciting, and well instructed adventures on Clear Creek. Our team practices excellent guest service, genuine friendly atmosphere, and quick emergency prevention and response. 

    Job Duties and Responsibilities - 

    • Provides safe and quality river tours for guests through constant monitoring, detailed instruction, and appropriate prevention and intervention. 

    • Communicates clearly with all teams, departments, and management by actively listening and seeking feedback. 

    • Assists boathouse team in inspection and set up of equipment, preparation for tours, and documentation of work performed. 

    • Calm and capable of performing rescue interventions, incident response, and incident documentation. 

    • Performs departmental tasks in efficient, organized manner. 

    Required Qualifications - 

    • Minimum age of 18  

    • Education - High school diploma or equivalent 

    • Experience - No prior experience necessary, training classes available. 

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Willing and able to participate in adventures, thorough and efficient work practices, and able to adapt to a variety of situations. 

    Work Conditions and Schedule - 

    • 10-12 hour long days of constant physical activity, 30-40+ hour workweeks 

    • Variety of isolated outdoor settings in ever changing weather conditions 

    • Must be able to work seasonally from at least Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. 

    • Must be able to work weekends and holidays. 

    Position type: Seasonal 

    Pay Range: $16-$20/hour. Depending upon Experience, Training, and Certification.

    Aerial

    Zipline/Aerial Guide

    Our aerial team provides authentic, exhilarating, and safe adventures on zip line and aerial adventure park tours. Our team understands risk management, emergency prevention and response, and at-height work practices.

    Guest Services

    Reservationist

    $18.00 / hour
    Idaho Springs, Colorado

    Our guest services team provides genuine and friendly guest interactions, phone and online reservations, and check-in guests for their adventures. Our team has a deep understanding of risk management and safety and is highly knowledgeable of our adventures and operations. 

    Job Duties and Responsibilities - 

    • Sells adventure tours online and over the phone by informing and guiding guest purchases. 

    • Provides on-site check ins for guest arrivals by welcoming, informing, and directing guests to their adventures. 

    • Maintains food, beverage, and retail inventory, cash and credit card transactions with consistency and organization. 

    • Maintains order and cleanliness of facilities and office equipment. 

    Required Qualifications - 

    • Education - High school diploma or equivalent 

    • Experience - No prior experience necessary, on-site training provided. 

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Willing and able to participate in adventures, thorough and efficient work practices, and able to adapt to a variety of situations. 

    Preferred Qualifications - 

    • Education - Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience 

    • Experience - 1 year of customer service, sales, or retail 

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Basic knowledge of Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) 

    Work Conditions and Schedule - 

    • 8-10 hour long days with some physical activity, 30-40+ hour workweeks 

    • Must be able to work seasonally from at least Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. 

    • Must be able to work weekends and holidays. 

    Position type: Seasonal 

    Pay Range: $18-$20/hr. Depending upon Experience, Training, and Education.

    Rafting

    Drivers

    $24.00 / hour
    Idaho Springs, Colorado

    Our driving team provides safe and smooth transportation from our base to river put ins and take outs in a regimented, timely manner. Our team maintains a perfect driving record and keeps our transport fleet in perfect condition. 

    Job Duties and Responsibilities -  

    • Maintains daily use of buses, vans, and trailers by inspecting, documenting vehicle condition. 

    • Provides safe transportation of guests, staff, and equipment to and from base. 

    • Ensures proper fueling, tire pressure, and fluids of vehicles are performed and documented daily. 

    • Provide friendly service to all guests and coworkers. 

    Required Qualifications - 

    • Minimum age of 25 

    • Education - High school diploma or equivalent 

    • Experience – Excellent safety and driving records (must provide copy), has class B license with passenger and air brake endorsements. 

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Must be in good health with current DOT physical and able to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings. Driving includes use of a trailer. 

    Work Conditions and Schedule - 

    • 8-10 hour long days with some physical activity, 30-40+ hour workweeks 

    • Must be able to work seasonally from at least Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. 

    • Must be able to work weekends and holidays. 

    Position type: Seasonal 

    Pay Range: $24-25/hr. Depending upon Experience, Training, and Certification. 

    Start Date: Early May
