We are a long-standing traditional summer camp nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Northern Michigan. Part of our mission is to provide transformative outdoor experiences for teens, fostering personal growth, leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for nature.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Camping Trip Leader to lead hiking trips for our teen campers. This is an opportunity to inspire young minds, facilitate memorable outdoor adventures, and contribute to a longstanding tradition of excellence in summer camping.
- Must be certified with one of the following: Wilderness First Responder (WFR), EMT, Paramedic, or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC). We can assist in obtaining WFR certification if needed.
- Prior experience working with teenagers in an outdoor setting is essential.
- Overnight camp experience preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of camping equipment including water purification systems, tents, cooking in the outdoors, and other essential gear.
- Ability to create and execute engaging, safe, and fun outdoor activities for teens.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Must be passionate about outdoor education and fostering a love for nature among teens.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise hiking trips for teens, ensuring safety, engagement, and a positive experience for all participants.
- Plan and prepare routes, itineraries, and camping logistics for multi-day trips.
- Be an integral part of the preparation process of the hiking group.
- Instruct campers on outdoor skills, including navigation, camp setup, cooking, and Leave No Trace principles.
- Manage and maintain camping equipment, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Collaborate with camp staff to coordinate schedules, activities, and resources.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and respect for nature.
