Bristol Adventures offer summer job opportunities at our lodges in and around Katmai National Park and at our flight service station located in King Salmon, Alaska. We seek skillful, high energy, people-oriented staff persons for unique Eco-tourism and sport-fishing based travel. Most of our seasonal opportunities run from late May through mid-September with some jobs extending into October.

Bristol Adventures is owned by Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC), and several of our lodges operated under our Bristol Adventures umbrella have been in operation since 1950.

Bristol Adventures is the parent company of Katmailand, Inc. and Katmai Air, LLC, which operates four lodges (Kulik Lodge, Brooks Lodge, Grosvenor Lodge, and Mission Lodge) and an air service (Katmai Air) throughout Katmai National Park and the greater Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska.

Ideal Candidate

We seek energetic customer service oriented individuals to help achieve the goal of providing exceptional experiences to all of our guests. We aim to make sure that the expectations of our guests are not only met but exceeded so each individual may have the trip of a lifetime!

Ideal candidates should be available to work the entire season from mid-May through mid/late September. Individuals should also be professional, able to work long hours, personable, and maintains a positive attitude at all times. They should also be prepared to live in remote Alaska, free from substance abuse, punctual, honest, trustworthy, flexible, a team player, and always respectful to other employees.

Room and board is provided at no cost to our employees.

Employee Perks

Our employees live and work in a world-class travel destination, which includes an employee lounge with satellite TV and limited WiFi. We also provide a laundry facility with all necessary supplies. Bedding and linens are also provided at no cost.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Employment begins and ends in Anchorage, Alaska.  Once there, we provide transportation to and from our lodges via commercial airlines or through our own Katmai Air.

Activities available in your spare time include world-class fly and/or conventional fishing, bear watching, hiking, canoe/kayaking, sightseeing, photography, and nearly anything you can imagine in the Alaska wilderness.

    Chef / Kitchen Manager

    Approximate Season Dates: May 10 - September 25

    Brooks Lodge operates under a Concessions Contract with the National Park Service and is the busiest of the three lodges. The lodging capacity at Brooks is for 64 guests. In addition, there is a campground for 60 people nearby and Brooks is also a popular fly-in destination for day trips that include fishing and bear viewing.

    Chef / Kitchen Manager: Oversees all kitchen operations including supervising and participating in all food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, food ordering, proper food storage and rotation, inventory, quality control, schedules, special diet requests, kitchen cleanliness, and adherence to U.S. Public Health Service Standards.

    Must have a current ServSafe manager certification and HACCP. Three years of kitchen supervisory experience in a restaurant operation that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Preparation for 350 to 500 covers per day incorporating a family-style buffet menu.

    • The standard workweek is 7 days while working approximately 11 hours per day.
    • Pay issued every two weeks, standard overtime applies, tips pooled amongst all staff.

    Front Desk

    Brooks Lodge operates under a Concessions Contract with the National Park Service and is the busiest of the three lodges. Lodging capacity at Brooks is for 64 guests.     Front Desk: Responsible for front desk operation and daily check-in/check-out of lodge guests and reconciliation of guest charges. Good customer service skills are a must. Familiarization with all aspects of the lodge operation will be required as well as ten key, extensive cash handling, credit cards, and operation of cash register.

    Brooks Lodge is located in the heart of Katmai National Park on the Brooks River! At Brooks, we carry an operating staff of twenty-six individuals in combination with the multitude of Bears, Eagles, and fish all with the purpose of providing our guests with an extraordinary experience.  

    As a member of our Housekeeping / Food Service team, you would be responsible for the daily cleaning and turnover of guests' rooms as well as being a part of our three meal services. This can include but not limited to running food, bussing tables, operating the cash register, and communicating with guests daily meal offerings.

    • The standard workweek is 6 days while working approximately 9 hours per day.

    Tour Bus Drivers

    Approximate Season Dates: May 20 - September 18

    Brooks Lodge operates under a Concessions Contract with the National Park Service and is the busiest of the three lodges. Lodging capacity at Brooks is for 64 guests. In addition there is a campground for 60 people nearby and Brooks is also a popular fly in destination for day trips that include fishing and bear viewing.

    Tour Bus Drivers:

    Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a current Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement.

    At Brooks Lodge we operate a daily 23 mile each direction tour that goes out to the Valley of 10,000 Smokes which is the volcanic site that is actually the reason that Katmai exists today. Once at the visitor center at the end of the road, guests have the afternoon to hike and explore the valley before the bus returns to the lodge later in the afternoon.

    Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

    - Safe operation of a 28 passenger tour bus driving down the valley road and back in the afternoon/evening.

    - Set up and take down of a sack lunch service for guests.

    - Cleaning of bus and daily pre trip inspections

    - Ability to lift and carry 40lbs.

    - Driving shuttle vans between lakes with guests

    Katmai Air

    Driver / Laborer

    Live and work in King Salmon, Alaska! 

    Want to work around float planes?! We seek motivated, self starting individuals to join our team working at our float plane base in King Salmon. King Salmon is the starting point to almost all activities inside Katmai National Park and the starting point to all our guests journeys.

    Job duties will include but are not limited to: Loading and offloading airplanes with luggage and freight, helping guests board planes, fueling airplanes, cleaning building, and running refuse. 

    - Pay depends on experience. Expected work week is 6 or 7 days per week. Standard overtime applies.

    Katmai Air

    Float Plane Base Manager

    Katmai Air provides air transportation and support for our three lodges located in Katmai National Park Alaska and primarily operates floatplanes. We have an opening for an experienced candidate to manage our new Katmai Air King Salmon floatplane facility. This Position will manage our front-line staff who assist our lodge and Bear viewing guests en-route to Brooks Lodge and Brooks Falls. This position is seasonal - from on or about May 1st through October 1st and will be based in King Salmon (Housing is provided along with meals)

    The ideal candidate will be well-versed in general business matters, will lead and supervise the work of 6-8 employees, and have a track record of safe operations around aircraft.  The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all embarking and disembarking guests as well as employees who are turning incoming and outgoing aircraft at our dock.

    Candidate  Must have:

    • At least 1-3 seasons working in or managing a flight operation facility,
    • A past good record of managing / delegating and scheduling staff hours
    • A positive and flexible attitude
    • Good customer service skills and is experienced in managing the large group departures
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • A clean and professional appearance   
    • Computer skills including knowledge of MS office programs and have experience with customer reservation systems
    • Ability to lift 60 lbs repetitively

    Skills beneficial but not required

    • Aviation /pilot experience
    • Familiarity with Aviation weather a plus.
    • General knowledge of vehicle and building maintenance
    • General knowledge of mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.  

    Certifications: Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and tanker hazmat endorsements.

    Sport Fishing Guides

    The primary activity at Kulik Lodge is sportfishing. Kulik accommodates 28 guests at a time and requires excellent customer service in every position to ensure that our guests expectations are not only met, but exceeded.

    Sport Fishing Guides: Extensive fishing experience required. Must be versed in all phases of freshwater fishing including fly-fishing, casting, trolling, fly-tying and spin fishing. Extensive boat handling skills and basic maintenance experience also required. Must have an ROUPV license with Kvichak, Alagnak, and Nushagak River endorsements, USCG License for the Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska or other qualified USCG License. Other duties as assigned. Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs.
