We need Housekeeper/s!
We specialize in getting our adventurous "National Park Collectors" to Gates of the Arctic National Park and Kobuk Valley National Park via floatplane. In mid-August, it will be dark enough to see the Northern Lights and enjoy the Arctic fall colors. We pride ourselves in superior customer service. Bettles Lodge is a small rustic lodge with 14 rooms total and 8 of those rooms don't have plumbing in the room itself. There are 12 total bathrooms.
Your primary job will be housekeeping; however, you can expect to help with answering phones, serving meals, taking reservations and even fueling airplanes. With a small crew of approximately 10, teamwork is essential.
A private sleeping room with shared bathroom provided and 3 meals per day are provided. Tips are split evenly between the crew. If you successfully complete the season, you will also be eligible for an end of season bonus. We will provide transportation between Fairbanks and Bettles at the beginning and end of your employment. You can expect to work at least 40 hours per week and up to 60 hours per week. Overtime is paid at 1.5x your hourly rate for any hours over 8 hours per day and over 40 hours per week. All jobs at our lodge are physically demanding.
Our season starts slowly June 1st, then ramps up through summer and ends October 15th.
You will also have the opportunity to go to these two pristine Arctic National Parks, float the Koyukuk River 7 miles down to the Ghost Town of Old Bettles, hiking and more on your day off. Bettles has approximately 20 full-time residents. There are other seasonal employees for other businesses in the summer; however, there isn't a big social scene.
If you love people, dogs, nature and wild Alaska, come experience the Arctic with us! This is the REAL Alaska!
