We are passionate about taking people out and sharing the waters we love and enjoy. Our company offers Whale Watching, Bird Watching & Puffin trips, Nature Tours, National Park tours from the water, hiking tours of islands, light house tours, Lobster and Seal watching trips. We also assist visiting cruise ships moving passengers from ship to shore.
We are located on Mount Desert Island, surrounded by Acadia National Park, the waters of Frenchman Bay and the Gulf of Maine.
About Bar Harbor Whale Watch
We operate passenger boats on whale watching trips, nature tours, lighthouse tours and lobster fishing trips. Our vessels also carry people to an island owned by Acadia National Park. We help tender visiting cruise ships, carrying passengers to shore. We assist Allied Whale and College of the Atlantic conducting observational research on marine mammals from our boats.

The Employee Experience
Bar Harbor is a wonderful place to live if you love the outdoors and like to be surrounded by people who love the outdoors.
We are ringed by the ocean and Acadia National Park. Bald eagles, seals and whales live near by.
You will meet like minded people from all around the world here - both your coworkers and customers. You will have the chance to work with researchers, historians, mariners and Acadia National Park Rangers.
Ideal Candidate
Our preferred candidate can work from early spring through the about Thanksgiving time. Previous experience is helpful.
Winter work in Florida is possible for good employees.
We have shore side jobs in ticket sales and both licensed mariner and crew jobs on the boats. Working around the water is good fun but it can be a lot of work caring for the passengers and maintaining the boats for safety. Good customer service skills are needed. Patience and a humble sense of humor is helpful.
The weather on the water changes constantly, be ready conditions from beautiful sunny calm days to stormy 4-6' seas and thick fog.
Room and Board
A limited amount of housing is available.The price includes utilities and is a good deal compared to other options. Lunch is provided during the season.

Getting Here and Getting Around
Many employees bring their own vehicle but parking is difficult during the high season.
Free public transport is available on the island from the Island Explorer bus system.
Many people use bikes to get around Bar Harbor, and there is an extensive bike trail system in the National Park.
If you need a ride from one of our local airports, that can be arranged. Our local airports are the Bar Harbor Hancock County Airport and the Bangor International Airport. Buses run from Bangor south to Boston.
For Fun
Most people in Bar Harbor enjoy spending time in the national park hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and swimming. Bar Harbor has a longtime summer tradition of supporting the arts with local theater and music. We have museums in the area showcasing local native american culture and natural history.
The nearby city of Bangor has a large concert venue and a casino.
